Food cravings and aversions

I’m interested to know if other people are finding themselves eating or not eating certain things since they became pregnant.

I had cravings for salt n vinegar crisps at about 6 weeks (I am 12 now) but at one point went off then and now the thought makes me wretch.

I used to love a hot choclate from Starbucks but now that doesn’t appeal to me. I also don’t find myself reaching for chocolate and that kind of thing very often whereas I ate choclate daily before. I do find myself eating sweet things like mints and sweets but that’s more either to get rid of the unpleasant taste in my mouth or just eat whatever I can to keep nausea at bay.

I’ve gone off meat a little bit but not completely.

I’m eating a lot of Philadelphia, more than before. And I’m tending to go for crisps now (other than salt n vinegar) rather than sweet snacks.

I’m drinking more fizzy drinks too whereas I didn’t much before but I am trying to avoid caffeine.

Oh, been craving fruit this last week or so, which is good...

🤔

I’m not that fussed about meat anymore.

I love anything salty or spicy at the moment, whereas I usually love sweet food.

I went off cake for a few weeks. That was a dark time.

@Stephisaur quite similar to me!

Bananas. Which are both at the moment. I opened my desk drawer which had one in and nearly yacked at the smell. 10 minutes later I had the raging hunger and nearly inhaled the offending banana which suddenly hit the spot Confused

I’m having big Stilton cravings. Also yogurt. Maybe a protein thing.

I’ve gone off egg sandwiches completely having always loved them. Rank.

@AnneLovesGilbert I’ve gone a bit off egg. Ok with bananas. Liking yogurt too.

And pasta!

I'm 6 weeks, feel sick constantly and gradually going off everything apart from carbs and chicken soup.

Can't stand the thought of anything spicy or with pulses in-things I normally love. Starting to go off meat now too.

I think I'm going to be on the blandest of diets for the next 6 weeks.

My first pregnancy I had this awful weird aversion, you know when you open a yogurt and there's like some around the edges ? But it's gone like lumpy rather than smooth yogurt. Lol. That gave me the absolute heebies Confused

Craved salt and vinegar crisps too, think that's quite common ! And vanilla ice cream towards the end.
With my second I looooved orange juice ice lollies . Still do now !

ReginaPhalange89 · 03/08/2018 21:07

A lady I used to work with was vegetarian and she craved Pepperami 😂😂

Struggling with food generally. I ate low carb before pregnancy, been living on beige carbs for the last 10 weeks. I feel like a blimp.

kirinm · 04/08/2018 11:18

My nearly immediate aversion was vegetables. Mushrooms and broccoli were by far the worst and up to about 15-16 weeks I would eat cucumber / celery / peppers although that was only by forcing myself.

I've eaten an absolute ton of sugar which I didn't before. Last few weeks to go and now it's all about crushed ice drinks.

bluebird3 · 04/08/2018 17:24

I've completely gone off vegetables, beans, pulses. Basically healthy food. Sad
All I want is crisps, maoam sweets, yogurt, Philadelphia, chilli cheese bites from Burger King, and other beige foods. I also feel like a blimp but get really nauseous if I'm not snacking every couple of hours.

R7589 · 04/08/2018 19:07

I'm 21 weeks and still have major aversions to eating/smelling/looking at fish in a fillet style (im fine with fish cakes though, and I love prawns!)

My major craving has been oranges and orange juice -
Can't get enough of the stuff right now! And salt and vinegar crisps but they have always been my favourite.

kirinm · 04/08/2018 19:39

@bluebird3 chilli cheese bites from Burger King were spectacular in my first trimester.

AliceRR · 04/08/2018 21:44

I’m liking grapes as well

Need to try those chilli cheese bites!
