I have just had my c section 12 days ago and tonight whilst cleaning and drying it i have noticed at each end above my incision its really hard. In the middle is not as hard. It does feel a bit hard on the actual scar too but not as much as above it. Anyone had this? I'm a bit concerened.

Hi, could it be the internal dissolvable stitches that you’re feeling?

Wishicouldsleep · 01/08/2018 21:17

Mine is hard. (3 months old)
It feels like a thin piece of rope. You can always ask your health visitor.

Goostacean · 01/08/2018 21:18

Yes! Like a hard lump? Had the same (mine was esp bad on the right side) and it did go away, although took quite a while (like, months). Don’t worry :) Although maybe mention to HV/GP, as I’m not an expert obviously!

Mine felt like that quite hard around the stitches. It does gradually get better. I can still feel scar tissue under mine 8 months on but it is my second c section. Once it’s fully healed you can massage some light oil into it eg bio oil, or I bought a nice one from burts bees. I think that helped a bit.

Yes i think it is more like lumps. But lots of them. I think i will go see the gp just to check. Left side is worse than the right, i know i have been over doing it but had no pain for a week and have felt fine this time round x

I've a couple of surgeries (though not cheap section) and the scars after those were very red and sore at first, then they were red/pink and rock hard.

Now. They're all white and not hard at all, and only occasionally ache a bit (they are raised but that's only because I get keloid scarring which is less common in caucasians)

BillywigSting · 01/08/2018 21:28

C section sorry!

Bloody autocorrect.

GreenMeerkat · 01/08/2018 21:35

The lumps is likely the stitches but I'd ask anyway. I has a big lump on one side of mine where the end of the stitch was. Really hurt too!

SamanthaH92 · 01/08/2018 21:43

It doesn't hurt when i touch it and this is my second c section. I never had anything like this with my first and I'm on blood thinners which is why i am a bit concerned. I dont see healrh visitor for another 2 weeks and have been signed off by midwife so will book a gp appiontment when i can x
