Can't stop feeling sick until I eat rubbish!

By rubbish I mean salty chips and a cheese burger, and full fat Coke Blush

What's wrong with me?! I never touch Coke.

I've been having terrible sickness (had HG all the way through with DS), but this isn't anything in comparison. It's very mild!

I just can't stop feeling faint unless I eat something take away like Shock

I usually love eating cucumbers, avocados, etc, for lunch.

But I can stomach nothing but burger with chips. Has to be a burger. Never liked the things before, I don't even eat them in McDonald's usually. But now they're the stuff of dreams

I also want to vomit at the thought of chicken (my favourite), and feel stabby if I can't have some variety of melon.

What's happening to me Blush

I'm the same at the moment. tried eating fruit and veg, but that just comes back up.
So I've given up trying to eat healthy and am now just focussing on getting any food into my system. Lots of ready salted Crips, chips and bread and cheese.

I also, can't stand chicken at the moment - DH just has to open the packet and I have to change rooms!

Rebecca36 · 01/08/2018 16:35

Oh bless you. It won't hurt for a little while - think about it, lots of people eat like that all their lives!

When I was pregnant I ate everything in sight and drank fizzy drinks every day which I normally dislike. I was OK and so was my baby.

I hope your pregnancy goes smoothly now and you relax. All the best.

FrancesV83 · 01/08/2018 16:36

Hi OP, this sounds exactly like my pregnancy with my son!! Hadn't eaten McDonald's in about 8 years and then that's all I could eat for the first couple of months! That and flat coke and loads of strawberries and melon.
Don't worry your normal apetite will return!

CobaltRose · 01/08/2018 16:58

I feel exactly the same! I'm eight weeks and feel utterly rotten until I eat something starchy/full of rubbish. Cheese, burgers, crisps, bread, lemonade.... all the junk you're not supposed to eat.

Poppy2507 · 01/08/2018 18:25

I was like this too. Only thing that helped was super salt and vinegary chips and full fat coke. Anything is better than nothing!

twiglet · 01/08/2018 18:32

Don't worry about it I'm the same usually love veg and variety but at the moment I only want beige food which I usually hate.
To make it worse and to be even more disgusted with myself is that I'm pescatarian (fish no meat) for over 20 years and now all I want to have for dinner is meat and I can't stomach fish! Finally gave in at the weekend ShockBlush

I was the same for the duration of the first trimester and the beginning of the second till the nausea all but disappeared. I tried my best to eat nutritionally but realistically, I could only stomach really bland stodgy carbs. As long as you’re managing your prenatal vitamin you’ll be fine.

Beherenow32 · 01/08/2018 18:48

Sounds like it’s quite common then! I’m the same. I need carbs to help my stomach (still feel sick, but not as bad). I used to be very healthy! I force myself to eat a little fruit.. but I just mean a little!

I take the vitamins and I think it will be ok. I’m 7+5 weeks

Wingbing · 01/08/2018 18:53

I was like this!

Usually eat healthily but during pregnancy I said yes to everything. After years of saying no to office cake, late night hot chocolate and daily chocolate bars, I ate it all.

I was even eating microchips as an afternoon snack whilst at work

I also probably ate too many Macdonalds.

It was the only thing that made me feel ok.

Took me 18 months to loose the weight.

dinosaurkisses · 01/08/2018 18:54

I’m the same at the moment.

Today for example, I woke up feeling queasy. Met a friend for lunch at a chipper where I ordered some scampi and some lovely greasy chipper chips and ketchup. Felt amazing all afternoon since!

As an aside, the smells that are making me feel sick- when I was pregnant with DD it was DH’s smell. With this baby, the smell of 10 month old DD gives me the dry boke 😔

FunkyChunk · 01/08/2018 19:02

I'm 9 weeks and the same!
I try not to eat too many carbs and no snacks in normal life to keep my weight down (it's not low anyway but stops me ballooning!)

The past few weeks all I want is bread, bread, bread, potatoes, bread, potatoes! Nightmare! I've barely seen a vegetable but the thought of it really turns me sick!

kenandbarbie · 01/08/2018 19:03

I'm the same. Crisps are my only friend.

This is an artist's impression of my baby (currently 22+3 with what feels like a kick-boxing octopus) between weeks 7 and 15.

Theweasleytwins · 01/08/2018 19:14

I hate fizzy drinks and really liked them in the first trimester- and cheesy chipsSmile

dinosaurkisses · 01/08/2018 19:15

Jesus I’d love a cheesy chip right now

Nightmanagerfan · 01/08/2018 19:36

Don’t worry. I too have entered the beige carbs and lots of chips phase! My previously healthy self doesn’t know what to think

EnglishGirlApproximately · 01/08/2018 19:39

Ha, I was like this when I was pregnant! One night I made DP drive me 30 miles as I’d researched it was the best burger bar around Blush He loved this phase, perfect excuse for him to eat crap! It passed after about a month, but for that month I wanted all the carbs and grease I could get my hands on

LupiPie · 01/08/2018 19:59

I'm a strange, because I flip from wanting just carby take aways and fruit!

Specifically melon.

Tonight I've eaten two packs of melon varieties. They're from M&S and bloody gorgeous Blush

Felt quite cross with the Asda ones Grin

I couldn't even look at a vegetable when I was pregnant with DD never mind eat one without feeling physically ill. All I wanted to eat was fried chicken, pizza and chocolate milk. It got slightly better toward the end of the 2nd trimester but to this day I am surprised that DD didn't come out looking like colonel sanders. Grin

Nightmanagerfan · 03/08/2018 11:06

In my last pregnancy I ate SO much melon - the orange pre-cut chunks from M&S only. I probably ate a pack or two a day between 7 and 12 weeks - must have kept them in business Smile
