Looking to see if can gain knowledge/advice from others similar to me who eventually got a lovely healthy baby.

Had d&c 1 week ago twin pregnancy stopped at 6 weeks discovered at 9 weeks. I’m 40 previously had miscarriage and d&c 4 years ago unplanned very early on didn’t even know.

I’m o negative and think last time didn’t get anti d, I did this time

Devastated as newly married and this was all I wanted in life.

I get pregnant easily enough.

Do I wait till after next period? Do I take aspirin? A thousand questions from Dr Google

So thought I’d see if anyone else did anything different after a miscarriage?

I had a mmc many years ago. It was my 2nd pregnancy after having dd (who came with the help of early fertility treatment). Got pg quite quickly but discovered empty sac at 12 week scan. Was pg again 3 months later. Didn’t do anything differently except get a private scan at 7 weeks as couldn’t wait for 12 weeks! Saw his little heart beating on that scan. Pregnancy was normal. Went on to have another child after him too. I can’t explain what happened with the mmc. It was heartbreaking but seemingly random. I’m sorry for your losses and wish you good luck for the future.

As PP I didn't do anything different, they could explain why I miscarried. I was given an early scan at 7 weeks to check all was okay. Might be worth contacting your EPU when the time comes to see if you can have an early scan?

We tracked my ovulation straight after and didn't wait until my period, I wasn't given advice about it so not sure if it was the right thing to do. But I'd been told your more fertile and didn't want to wait, we conceived DC straight away

But do give yourself time to process as well Thanks

Couldn't explain even

I'm now pregnant for the 6th time after 1 healthy pregnancy (22 years ago) and 4 consecutive miscarriages. I'm 35 weeks and the only difference in my life was that I'd spent last year working hard to get fit. It wasn't so I could get pregnant, but I do wonder if that has helped. This pregnancy was hard for the first 18 weeks with lots of heavy bleeding so I think it's probably more likely just pure luck that this time, things have worked out.

Just wanted to say I'm so sorry you've been through this I am in a very similar position so will be following this thread! I had a natural mc in January and then a mmc 6 weeks ago at 13 weeks I'm also rhesus negative and they gave me the anti d whilst I was in the hospital having medical management. I'm also wondering what I can do to stop this happening for a 3rd time! I'm 24 and very healthy so it shows it can happen to anyone and is just shit. Hope your ok xx

xJune88 · 31/07/2018 09:08

I also get pregnant pretty easily but I'm struggling to stay pregnant which is so frustrating!! X

Paranormalbouquet · 31/07/2018 09:13

I’ve had 3 miscarriages since last June, the third was missed and required erpc. I became pregnant while having investigations and am now 19 weeks. I took high dose folic acid from time of last miscarriage and had planned to start aspirin when I conceived but like kirin had lots of bleeding so was advised against. I did nothing different in first trimester, had a cervical procedure at end of first trimester but that was for different reasons.

I have 1 DD (4) who was conceived and carried no problem and then 2 consecutive MMC 2016 & 17 when we were trying for DC2. I now have a healthy 15 week old DS.
I'm A- and wasn't given anti D after first miscarriage. I spoke to the dr about this and he advised it wouldn't cause another miscarriage as it doesn't affect anything until later on in the pregnancy.
The only thing I did differently was limiting my caffeine intake. It probably didn't have any effect but I wasn't taking any chances.
After the 2nd MMC we took a 2 month break and went on holiday. I think this helped me mentally more than anything else but it did give my body a break.

Appleandmango22 · 31/07/2018 09:27

I done nothing different. Mmc discovered at 12 week scan. Sadly, it’s just one of those things. Went on to get pregnant soon after and now have 9 week old dd.

CobaltRose · 31/07/2018 09:37

I had a MMC back in April. I was supposed to be 12 weeks but a scan revealed an empty sac.

I got pregnant again two months later and am now 8 weeks. So, things may still go wrong, but we saw a healthy baby with a strong heartbeat during a scan last week.

I haven't done anything differently during this pregnancy, aside from getting early scans as I couldn't bear to wait until I was 12 weeks! The VAST majority of miscarriages cannot be prevented, so aren't caused by anything you did or didn't do. Most of the time we're just hideously unlucky Sad

Sorry for all your losses.

xJune88 · 31/07/2018 09:49

@Paranormalbouquet congratulations on your current pregnancy!! How did you get the high dose folic acid? Did it have to be prescribed xx

Paranormalbouquet · 31/07/2018 10:10

I asked my GP who was happy to prescribe. I doubt it made any difference but it is harmless.

Mamimawr · 31/07/2018 10:14

After two succesful pregnancirs I had two mmc found at 12 week scan. Next pregnancy I took 75mg Asprin daily throughout pregnancy which resulted in a little boy.
All the best to you, Flowers

xJune88 · 31/07/2018 10:53

Thankyou. I'm very tempted with the 75mg aspirin I have stocked up but worried in next pregnancy someone will tell me off for taking it but surely it's worth a try?! X

Mamimawr · 31/07/2018 20:02

I was very honest with all medical staff I saw that I was taking aspirin - midwife, GP, consultants etc. They were all happy, some said it was a good idea others said it wouldn't do any harm.

summertimehere · 01/08/2018 07:16

Thankyou, it’s good to hear others have went through same and have went on to have children or are now expecting.

It’s really hard to know what to do or not do.

Reading this next time I’m going to reduce caffeine & today I’m seeing a doctor privately will ask them about the aspirin and high dose folic acid.

It’s the fear that it will never happen or have to go through more miscarriages that can be overwhelming.

I’ve started healthy diet to lose the weight I put on over pregnancy & putting in as many foods as possible that supposedly boost fertility.

Sorry for your loss Flowers.

I’m currently 26+3 with a healthy boy after two MMC last year discovered at 11 and 12 weeks and two d&c’s.

The only thing I did different this time was not cutting caffeine out all together (I just reduced it) and mentally preparing myself as best as possible throughout the first trimester for the worst news. I just told myself continuously that it would all go wrong and there was no point getting my hopes up. I booked in with the midwife late and had my dating scan on the last possible day as a result. Was beyond shocked to see a healthy baby there Smile.

That’s truly all I did differently, accepted that what would be would be and that I couldn’t change it.

I had two cycles before getting pregnant after both MMC.

Littlemisssugarplum88 · 01/08/2018 10:29

I had a mmc in Dec 2016; pregnancy stopped at 8 weeks but didn't find out until my 12 week scan.
It then it took me 14 months to get pregnant again - I'm currently 7 months pregnant and all has gone well so far. I haven't done anything differently this time - in fact my bmi first time around was about 28 and second time it was 30. I think mmc are just one of those very unfortunate things that can happen - I don't think it makes any difference to what we do or don't do prior to conceiving or during pregnancy.
Good luck and I hope you get some good news soon :) xxx

enbh · 01/08/2018 10:39

I got pregnant after 2 miscarriages, one a MMC and the other a normal miscarriage.

Even though I was 10 years older than the first time I got pregnant, the last pregnancy was completely successful.

I'm not sure if any of this helped, but after the two miscarriages I stopped drinking, stared exercising and eating really well. Could have been coincidrnve of course but I really think it played a part.

Good luck OP...it can have a happy ending, please don't give up hope

enbh · 01/08/2018 10:40

Oh and as a PP said, I had high dose folic acid too.
