Hi there I’m allegedly 32 weeks pregnant but just been for growth scans due to all my previous 3 being IUGR and baby is nearly 5 lbs at 32 weeks Confused had a GTT at 28 weeks which was negative so going for another this week .
I had early scan at 9 weeks which put my a week ahead of dates I thought I was at the time which on hindsight makes the conception date I thought impossible meaning I could possibly be 2 weeks further on than I think , how far out can scans be ? I had scan at supppsedly 14 weeks and 20 weeks and turns out I measured ahead at 20 weeks too , I assumed because of early scan dates would be spot on but I’m starting to wonder as ovulation date was time my husband and I were both working I december Shock I may be looking at earlier baby as need c section at 38-39 weeks , do you think they will adjust my due date ?

My baby was supposedly nearly 5lbs (4lbs 13oz I think) at a 32 week growth scan and was on the 70th centile which is hardly off the charts. I’m consistently measuring a bit ahead when my midwives measure me too but I have a short torso and a chunky baby so I’m really not worried.

You can have sex and not actually conceive until several days later and it’s all basically guesswork. If your dates seemed really off on your 20 week scan, they’d have adjusted your due date then. I think it’s very unlikely they’d do anything now. If they bought your due date forward, they’d risk delivering a pre-term baby (if they said you were 38 and you were actually 36 for example) by ‘cold section’ which is a really bad idea unless indicated by an emergency or serious risk factors.

They say at the end an average baby gains around 1/2lb a week so if the scan is correct(and they are often wrong) that would put baby at 9lb at due date which isn’t huge so I wouldn’t assume dates are out.

It’s my 4th baby and they all weighed 6lb odd at term so I tend to have smaller babies which makes it so strange , yes incywincy i assumes they wouldn’t take the risk delivering too early , I had t incision c section and had last baby at 38 weeks as I’m not allowed to labour at all so that complicated things hence why I’m worried due date is out .
