Just found out I'm 5 weeks preg, off I trot to the docs to get my prescribed dosage of 5mg of folic acid. Only to be told by doc to just take pregnacare, which has 400/mcl

Went home and looked at the NHS and diabetes uk website both of which recommend 5mg in first 12 weeks. Going to ring docs in the morning and lockup a fuss, although he was adamant yest that I didn't need it.

Anyone have a similar experience? Did you take 5mg?

It's almost 1am and I'm stressing and I have work in the morning!!

Arghhhhhhhh

Bit different because I'm type 1 but yes. Took folic acid for the first 12 weeks at 5mg. Have you seen the diabetic consultant as they can prescribe it to you rather than the gp.

Is imagine you would get the same care during your pregnancy as a type 1 with extra checks and a specialst?

You usually get referred pretty quickly as your pregnancy is more closely monitored.
