Eek!! @Eastend2015 I know it's nerve racking but also super exciting!!! Have everything crossed for you. How many weeks are you now?

Eastend2015 · 29/08/2018 14:14

Thanks @cakelaur, I’m losing the plot tbh! I’ll be 6+3 by my dates tomorrow. Hopefully not too early for a HB. Honestly if it’s not good news I don’t know how I will be able to try again.

Athers666 · 29/08/2018 14:44

@Alicejj8x That's lovely! Want! X

HidCat · 29/08/2018 15:35

@Eastend2015 try to think positive thoughts. Good luck! I've got my 12 week scan at midday tomorrow so 🤞 all is well for both of us.

Blondienut · 29/08/2018 21:34

Hi all, need to join the chat to try and gain perspective and stop panicking. I had a fatal diagnosis at my first babies scan at12 weeks and ended up having a termination. I then went in to have my DS and it was such an anxious pregnancy. 8 years later after IVF I am happily 14 weeks. I have my '12 week scan' (I was away hence why it's late) on Friday and have convinced myself something will be wrong. I have had a scans at 7,9 and 10 weeks and all ok - why am I panicking so much - help

Athers666 · 29/08/2018 21:46

@Eastend2015 and @Hidcat All the best for your scans. We're all rooting for you!

Cakelaur · 29/08/2018 23:12

@Eastend2015 think happy thoughts babe. I bet bub is perfectly cosy up in there.

@HidCat good luck babe 12weeks scan. What a mile stone.

@Blondienut welcome babe. Sorry for your losses. If it makes you feel better a 10week scan is just a viable as a 12 week scan, it's just bub is too small for nuchal measurements. Hopefully your scan will go wonderfully tomorrow.

Patienceofatoddler · 30/08/2018 07:14

Good luck for Friday @Blondienut hopefully all will be fine.

Let us know how you get on.

It's our 20 week one tomo, I'm having to go alone as no child care for dc and starting to get nervous already Confused

Athers666 · 30/08/2018 07:36

@Blondienut Good luck with your scan today as well x

HidCat · 30/08/2018 08:57

@Blondienut I feel your fear. After all you've been through it's hard to stay positive, even after a previous scan. Hopefully it will be good news for both of us today. I'm absolutely bricking it!

Eastend2015 · 30/08/2018 10:35

All good at the scan this morning- heartbeat seen and bang on for dates. So relieved!! @hidcat hoping for good news for you too x

Athers666 · 30/08/2018 10:57

Eastend2015 Yay! So so pleased for you. What a relief! X

HidCat · 30/08/2018 17:56

Scan went well today! Very wriggly, uncooperative baby but all looking good. So relieved!

LilacIris · 30/08/2018 18:04

Great news @Eastend2015 and @HidCat.

I don’t feel like I have any symptoms today which is worrying me. I hate this!

Athers666 · 30/08/2018 19:16

@Hidcat Whoop whoop! That's fantastic news!

clairehr · 30/08/2018 19:24

Congrats on the fab scans ladies, so pleased for you, massive milestones for both 😊

I had a check up with consultant today and I've been given the ALL CLEAR! I have white coat syndrome, no other issues so far, so no longer need consultant care, just home testing and regular check ups with midwife, yay!

Nurse beforehand did scare me a little in regards to doppler though, said to throw it away as she's known of people who have thought they've heard heartbeat, but actually not. I'm sure what I hear is the baby, with heartbeat of 140+, I'm pretty sure I can tell when it's my own heartbeat and the placenta as they're different sounds and speeds to the train noise of baby's, but now I'm doubting myself. Should I do what she says? Any advice?

zarala · 30/08/2018 19:53

Yay @HidCat @Eastend2015
Amazing news for you both!
Must be the best feeling! Yay!

zarala · 30/08/2018 19:55

And that's great you've got the all clear @clairehr !
I have never used a Doppler myself so I don't know what to advise... I was considering following @Cakelaur's lead and getting one when I am a bit further along but haven't fully decided yet!

HidCat · 30/08/2018 20:04

@clairehr that's great news. Midwives have been against Home Doppler a for a long time due to that issue - many women do get it wrong and in some cases miss a problem. I would say that you should use it under caution. Make sure you look at all the other pregnancy symptoms as well and don't just rely on the Doppler, which I'm sure you're doing.

Patienceofatoddler · 30/08/2018 20:05

@clairehr my mum is a senior midwife of over 35 years and honestly she thinks they should be banned from public sale as they cause so much trouble on triage / day unit at the Labour Ward she works on.

Woman come in thinking they heard a heart beat but there hearing the placenta (more of a wooosh) or their own heart beat or not a healthy baby heart beat - They give reassurance when you should just listen to your body.

Equally they cause a lot of worry and concern if you can't find it when actually everything is fine. Fueling the 'worried well' so to speak.

Personally I wouldn't use one as I am not medically trained to interpret what I can hear either way.

It's a very personal choice but fully expect most professionals to advise not to use them in the home.
