Avoiding illness, am I being paranoid!

I'm a lecturer and it seems to be coming to that point in term when everyone is ill. I've had several students who've come to tutorials saying that they have illnesses but can they sit in for the tutorial. These people have had doctor's notes saying that they have a range of things including viral illnesses, gastroenteritis and suspcted meningitis! I've turned each of the above away. Am I being too paranoid? I'm 34 wks. (Am suspecting that word may get around that having suspected meningitis is a good way to get off doing any work for me!)

Better safe than sorry! You are right to turn them away (IMO)

I agree- no point in catching something if you can avoid it. You're probably not feeling your most brilliant now anyway (I know I;m not and am 33 weeks) so to catch a bug or something would make you feel pants!!

It's probably a good idea to wash your hands more often if you are lecturing anyway, because you will easily pick up bugs if you touch anything handled by smell students

However menigitis is quite hard to catch, I know, I've had it. No-one I knew had it when I did, nor did anyone I lived with (seven people at the time) catch it.
