Spotting

Has anyone else had lots of spotting in pregnancy and been ok? I’m terrified it is going to get worse and be a bad outcome. In my first pregnancy I didn’t have any at all. This time round, I’m close to 8 weeks and I’ve had 3 lots now. One very early on, one lot last Sunday and another, slightly heavier period of spotting lasting this Friday and Saturday.

Google seems to suggest it can be ok. Or it might not. I’ve called the EPU and they said if I get it again they’ll do an early scan but otherwise only to worry if it gets heavier and if it does to go to A&E.

If it helps to reassure you, I had bleeds at 8 weeks and 13 weeks (both after flying) and all was well.

I was offered an extra scan, so try to insist on this if you can, in order to put your mind at rest. I also paid for one of those 4-D private ones (£200) a week later, as I was so anxious about the bleeding.

Taking to friends over the years since it happened to me, it is quite common, and all turned out well. Fingers crossed for you too xx

I bleed at the beginning I rang the community midwife and was told to sit and wait it out and there was nothing they could do, I am now 35 weeks pregnant. have you had your booking appointment yet?

I had spotting at 5,7,11,12&17 I'm now 24 weeks today so it can work out ok Smile the bleeds at the start may have been caused by a uti of which I had no other symptoms. However the rest no one seems to know why it kept happening. Best of luck to you x

I'm in a similar position now and spotted for 8 days, but it appears to be slowing. Only noticed when wiping, but was all the colours you can get, so have been anxious.

My nausea has increased though and I've vomited this morning. So hopefully it's ok. If I spot again I will probably see if I can get a scan, as at 6wks I'm more likely to see a viable pregnancy now.

If it helps, I had three bouts of gushy, heavy bleeding and had a successful pregnancy last time, as well as two MC prior, and I bleed more with the successful.pregancy.

The truth is, some people bleed lots unexpectedly and it's fine and others spot and go on to bleed heavily and miscarry, while some just spot and are fine. Bleeding happens for different reasons and until you know the reason why, you can't really tell. In my case with the heavy bleeding it was an SCH.

In case this helps anyone, I had another bleed a week later. The hospital got me in for a scan and there was a heartbeat and so far all signs look good. They don’t know why I was bleeding so hopefully I will be one of the lucky ones. My heart goes out to people experiencing losses. I was convinced this morning I was going to have a bad outcome but I’ve had a reprieve for now for which I’m very grateful.
