Does anyone have any positive outcomes of a PUL? (Pregnancy of unknown location) had an early scan due to light spotting and they couldnt see the baby. Im back tomorrow for another scan. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hey Hun. Mine was classed at PUL. Was going out of my mind for a week as they couldn't see anything at all on scan transvaginally or abdominally and I'm now 13+5. Please try and stay positive, I know it's hard... it's a scary time. Your HCG levels are rising which is a good sign. Was your scan transvaginal? X

Thank you for the reply, yeah i had both scans done. How many weeks were you? Ive been spotting on and of all week so fearing the worst. X

@Stacey714 No problem. I was 5 weeks when they couldn't see anything, I went back to have bloods done and then a follow up scan at 7+5 and they saw something on ultrasound but saw a heartbeat on transvaginal. Lots of people bleed throughout their pregnancy so try not to think of the worst hun x

What time is your scan OP? X

Stacey714 · 30/07/2018 15:08

Hi had my scan this morning & thankfully they dont think its eptopic! And today they could see a sac its only measuring at 5 weeks though and based on my LMP i should be around 7 weeks. The doctor remained postive as its normal to not see a baby at 5 weeks, but looks like the sac is in the right place. Im just a bit worried about my dates, spotting can be normal. Im back for another scan next week, so fingers crossed its growing and becomes a healthy pregnancy. X

@Stacey714 Amazing news, so glad to hear. They didn't see anything on my 5 week scan, not even a sac so I think that's a good sign! Smile x

Stacey714 · 30/07/2018 15:54

Thanks Katie, hoping the spotting stops so i can relax a little bit more. How many weeks were you when they saw something on your scan? Did your dates match up? X

Fingers crossed Smile I went back at 6 weeks ish and they couldn't see anything on abdominal but did on transvaginal (little blob with heartbeat) but was measuring 4/5 days small but was told its normal! Then went back at 9 weeks and scan was all ok (still measuring about 3 days small) and then my 13 week scan and I'm measuring 4 days ahead! It really is different for everyone and until you're 12 weeks I think dates are all over the place anyway! X

Stacey714 · 30/07/2018 16:15

Thank you, its such a worrying time. Im glad all is okay for you 😁 x

Hey this happened to me I went for a early scan due to bleeding and I should of been 7 weeks when I went there was just a 5 week sack so the rescheduled for 10 days later and there was a 6+3 baby with a lovely heart beat

KellyMarieTunstall2 · 30/07/2018 16:24

Hi Op
I've had positive and negative experiences with PUL. 1st time there was nothing seen on the scan except a thickened lining and my HCG did not double. I was checked every few days to exclude ectopic and my HCG levels were monitored until they were non pregnant. The second time I had a scan at 6 weeks and no pregnancy was seen except thickened lining. It transpired that my HCG levels were not high enough for an ultrasound to see the pregnancy. I was managed again for PUL but 2 weeks later a normal pregnancy was detected and fortunately continued on to term. It can go either way, but if your HCG isn't doubling then I would prepare for the worst OP but I hope it works out for you.

Thank you for your comments, the spotting has now stopped. So fingers crossed all is okay, im back for another scan next week hoping we can see a baby and my dates were just a little wrong. X
