5 Week private scan

I had a private scan yesterday at around 5+1 (estimated as I have PCOS).

The Sonographer couldn't see a thing and measured my endometrium thickness to be 7.8mm. Surely 7.8 isn't great for 5 weeks pregnant? She told me she probably would've seen more if it was a vaginal scan and to come back in 2 and a half weeks for a rescan.

I wasn't expecting to see much at all as it was an abdominal scan. I've caused myself more worry than what it was worth. Does anyone have any similar stories? Or could shed some light on the endometrium thickness?

Sorry I can't help, we had an internal scan as they said you can see better so that maybe the case?

Bethaniee · 29/07/2018 16:43

It's more than likely the case. I had an internal scan with my son around 7 weeks and we seen a heartbeat.

Unfortunately the place we went to this time don't offer internal scans :-(

@Bethaniee that's a shame maybe for peace of mind find somewhere that dies and keep the rescheduled scan for a couple of weeks?

Baby160P · 29/07/2018 16:50

Somewhere that does!!

Bethaniee · 29/07/2018 16:55

@Baby160P it's pricey :( I can't afford another. The rescan has been rescheduled for free for 2 and a half weeks away. I have another free scan a week on Tuesday but I'm not sure if they will do an internal.

I'm thinking of getting my bloods done? I don't know if that will help shed some light.

My CB digital date indicator tests are changing as they should be as well so I'm totally confused.

I had one at 4 and a bit weeks and saw nothing. 5 weeks plus 4 an empty sac- 6 weeks a tiny heartbeat. Hopefully when you go back you will see more as they grow so rapidly x

@Goatlady5812 I have my fingers crossed. I through this early scan would put my mind at ease but it's done the opposite Confused

Hello there

Please try to relax and wait. Bloods and scans don’t make it any less of a negative outcome if that’s what will happen.

At this stage relax as much as possible, eat what you can, if you aren’t sick eat your favourites and things, and just wait for the next scan.

I had a private scan and the place I went to wouldn’t perform them under 7 weeks for this very reason.

I say all this as someone pregnant who had a miscarriage 10 years ago and nothing til now, they said I never would and I’d probably miscarriage anyway. I’m 15 weeks.

Please please try and relax xxxx Flowers

I had one (internal) offered by the NHS at 5 weeks (due to recurrent miscarriage), saw nothing. Came back 2 weeks later and baby had a heartbeat.

Honestly, any scan before 7 weeks is a waste of time and ends up worrying people even more. Good luck OP, it’s most likely far too early to see anything yet!
