Hi,

It's very early days but I'm about 8 weeks pregnant at the moment. I have been quite sick for the last couple of weeks and now I can't stomach the idea of fruit or vegetables! I really don't want to get into bad habits early on and I don't want my pregnancy to be an excuse to eat rubbish... has anyone who has been through this got any tips/recipes as I am struggling big time with inspiration!

Thank you!

My blender was my best friend.. I threw everything in there. Fruit, yogurt, peanut butter, spinach.

But honestly just take your vitamins and when your appetite picks back up you can focus on what you eat. For now eat whatever you can keep down x

Honestly don't worry about it, it's completely normal. Once you're through the first trimester your appetite will return pretty much to normal and you can make up for it then.

I lived off chips for the first trimester.

I'm vegetarian and I went off everything healthy in the first 14weeks or so. I lived off jacket potatoes with cheese/coleslaw, fruit and fibre cereal or toast with honey. Once the sickness had gone my appetite returned to normal and I've eaten a balanced diet since.

I ate crisps 95% of my pregnancy in between vomiting for the whole 9 months

Son was born healthy, good weight, and now a strapping 2 year old x

Don't fret about it. I had hypermemsis for 7 mts, I weighed less giving birth than I did when I conceived. I was stressed out about baby not getting vitamins etc but baby was born a healthy 8 lbs and nearly 5 years later is a healthy normal child.

Once you are healthy when you conceive baby will take all your reserves.

It's totally normal to want and need white carbs in early pregnancy. Your body's telling you what it needs. Don't worry it passes soon enough. Just go with it.

Thanks everyone, this is really reassuring!
