Heat and early maternity leave

Anyone else considering starting their maternity leave early because of the heat? I'm 30 weeks, on annual leave till I am 32 weeks and really struggling!

When I got back I have 3 more weeks till I go on mat leave but I just keep thinking how much more awful it would be to be at work in this weather.

Feeling very torn as I really wanted the full year with my baby (12 months mat leave + 7 weeks being put on the end). I'm just not sure I can make it though!

I went early because of the heat with DC1 - it is brutal carrying a summer baby in this weather. In your shoes I'd be tempted to leave it until after the weekend storms to make a decision, just in case they bring the temperature down enough that I could eke out one more week.

I'm on Mat now. I'm only 28 weeks +2 but I had shit loads of holiday and got told to use it or loose it! So i have 4 weeks holiday then my Mat starts on 20 Aug so I will be 31 weeks then. It is so hot though agreed. I seem to be coping well even with no fan and my son is a wriggler in my belly! Its crazy! Hope you cope a lot better.

I've thought this too but decided to stick it out as I will be training my replacement for my last 2 weeks. I'd wait until after your annual leave, go back for a week and see how you feel.

I'm 37 weeks tomorrow and ended up taking a week off at 34 weeks on midwives recommendation as I wasn't coping with the heat then moving leave things forward so I could work weeks 35 and 36 from home and part time (so taking a week annual leave/ toil spread over two weeks) as the heat has been way too much! Now I've got two weeks annual leave and a week mat leave before my due date. Don't regret a thing as this heat has just been too much!

I'm nearly 35 weeks and am starting annual leave towards the end of next week. I think the temperature is meant to drop if that will help.
