Pupps Rash

Hi,

I am now over 37 weeks pregnant and been suffering with PUPPS or PEP rash since just over 34 weeks. I was prescribed a steriod cream and antihistamines when it first appeared, the antihistamines don’t even take the edge off of the severe itching and the steriod cream worked for about a week but now the rash is back with a vengence and the steriod cream won’t clear it. I see every hour during the night because of the severe itching and my stomach bleeds because I can’t stop scratching.

I am totally knackered and fear that by the time it gets to actually giving birth I’ll have no energy to actually do so. Was wondering if anyone has had any similar experiences and could recommend anything that could help. I also wondered if anyone has been offered induction due to PUPPS.

Thanks!

Hi OP I suffer with this when i have babies as well. It’s hideous isn’t it?

I’m assuming you have hydrocortisone? You can have something stronger which will get rid of the rash and it isn’t harmful to the baby.
In the mean time calomine lotion might help and I found wetting a flannel and wrapping ice cubes in it and placing it on the rash soothed it significantly.

I found the rash never went away but it would flare up several times a day (especially in the evening!) and this was when I needed the flannel.
