Hi everyone, I've just joined. I'm 13 weeks pregnant with my first baby and until yesterday everything had been pretty much plain sailing. Had our 12 week scan last week and everything fine. Yesterday morning I started bleeding. It started off slow to begin with, but then got heavier. I went to a&e where they did blood tests and a cervical exam. Bloods came back normal and my cervix was closed. By this point the bleeding had become really heavy (worse than a normal period) and was literally pouring out of me. It was so scary. I also had cramps like normal period cramps. The gynacologist said I was cause for concern and what I was going through was not normal, but that I would need a scan to check baby. Unfortunately they couldn't scan me yesterday so I had to go back this morning, but the gynacologist said if the bleeding got worse or I started to get clots then to come back.
This morning the bleeding had slowed right down and the cramps had subsided. I am still bleeding, but it is a lot slower than it was yesterday. Had scan this morning and thank God baby is fine. They did blood test as well and all fine. Gave me the anti D injection as I'm O- and that was it. They don't know what caused the bleeding. The nurse said it could have been a haematoma, but this is just a guess.
Has anyone been through anything similar and did you find out what caused it? It's so scary.
