Getting married at 20 weeks pregnant.

I've just found out I'm 6 weeks pregnant. I get married in 14 weeks time.
We were planning on TTC next month as we thought it would take us a few months for anything to happen but nature had other plans!
I've already bought my dress which is fitted down to the waist and then flares out. I've lost just under a stone and a half since buying it and was going to get it taken in. It's probably got about 2-3 inches spare on the rib area. It is a size 14 and I'm a size 12 now.
It's my first so I have no idea how big I'm going to be but I'm worried I'm going to be huge and not fit into my dress.
I'm also worried that a well placed bouquet isn't going to hide it in photos.
How big was your bump at 20 weeks? Any advice from anyone who got married pregnant would be gratefully received.

TIA!

Congratulations! If it's your first you might be okay - I was only just showing by 20 weeks and didn't tell work until 22 weeks and nobody had asked so I can't have looked very obviously pregnant (although it was winter so I'd been wearing lots of layers and scarves). It might be best to see if you can return or exchange your dress for one of a different style if you can, just so you're less conscious of it on the day if you'd rather it not be obvious that you're expecting.

Thank you.
I'm hoping that because I'm not skinny to begin with I have a bit of extra room to hide it. 😂
This is my dress. (Looks better in real life) I think that it's going to be able to hide the bottom of my bump but not sure if it's going to fit depending on how round I get.

I got married at the beginning of the month when I was 23+4 but unless you knew I was pregnant it wasn’t that easy to tell due to the style of dress that I wore. Similar kind of style to the one you have posted but not white.

You might have the kind of bump that doesn’t pop until afterwards but I’m sure you’ll find out closer to the date!

Didn't get married but I was still squeezing into my work clothes up to 21 weeks with my first with the help of the odd safety pin! So I think a size up would have fitted fine. I'm a teacher and the pupils didn't know till about 22 weeks although I'd told my colleagues before that.

I'm sure someone once told me wedding dressings have a bit more in the seams than normal clothes to allow for alterations but don't know if that's true. Might be worth checking out. I think pregnant brides look lovely - I wouldn't worry too much about hiding it as long as your dress fits well you'll look fab

Congrats how exciting!! It's the boobs I'd be more worried about fitting. You might have a little bump but that can be disguised. Mine was fairly discreet at 20 weeks and most of my clothes fitted okay in that area. But what made me need to go up sizes was my inflated boobs! You may need to reassess in a few weeks. A large (maybe cascading/waterfall style?) bouquet will def be an adequate disguise though. I got a flight last week at 30 weeks pregnant and couldnt find my fit to fly note... I held my sunhat casually in front of my bump... nobody batted an eyelid (phew!).

We got married when I was 20 weeks.
(Similar to plenty of others, we thought it'd take longer to conceive!!)

My original dress was:
www.wed2b.co.uk/wedding-dresses/anna_sorrano
I was going to need it taking in because I had lost a fair amount on waist (got super fit just before conceiving!!)

Found out pregnant a couple of days after discussing alterations with my aunt!

At about 16 weeks I had to make the decision.... and I had to get a different dress because my waist was rapidly moving upwards (I'm being polite...there was no waist left!! Grin

I think the design of your original is similar to my original. It was a really hard decision but both rely on a fitted bodice down to a low (normal for non preg to be fair!) waist.

I got an empire line dress in the end from Seraphine. It was beautiful and so comfy.

I’m 19 weeks with my first baby and still fitting in my pre-pregnancy size 8 clothes (although trousers etc are getting very tight!). Apparently it’s pretty common with first pregnancies to still not have much of a bump before 20 weeks - so maybe that’ll be the case for you. Looks like the dress could hide a lot of bump anyway!

I got married at 5 months pregnant with my first. I didn't wear a wedding dress just a skirt and jacket.
Don't think my bump was huge, can't remember now it was 25 years ago. 😁
