Pregnancy after vasectomy!

YES you can get pregnant after your other half has had a vasectomy. My husband had it done around 5 years ago and iv just found out I'm pregnant! Yes it is his ( I know I'll get the jokes) it has come as more than a shock and iv not stopped crying since finding out. He obviously went for it doing for a reason so we never expected to be in this position. He has a telephone consultation later with the doctor I presume followed by more appointments to try and find out how this has happened. My heads all over the place at the minute as I can't believe it's happened to us. Has anyone else found themselves in the same situation? X

Unfortunately l have heard of this. So sorry OP. What are you going to do?

Not personal experience but someone very close to me chose to abort after a failed sterilisation. You did everything you could to prevent this pregnancy and should feel no guilt

Did he have the follow up tests after his op? Was he given the all clear?

Unfortunately, this possibility is included in all the leaflets and post-op advice. It's also why I had myself sterilised after my husband had his vasectomy.

Take some time to talk through what you both want to do next - consider all ideas without judgement. Hopefully you can see a way forward.

We've been to the doctors today and they are sending him for 're testing, He had the all clear 5 years ago so it's still a huge shock. We are talking openly and leaning towards going ahead with the pregnancy. Thank you for your comments. X
