Hi,
Am 10 wks and getting really bad back aches. Is this pregnancy related or to do with my posture? (I must admit I have an 18 mth DD, who I am constantly running around and picking things up after)

Might be a bit of both, I get bad back ache to0 (I'm 10 weeks) and if you are quite active this will aggravate it. You need to be very careful when lifting or making sudden movements - Midwife told me that the hormones produced during pregnancy will serve to soften your muscles and ligaments in preparation for the birth, it does mean that we are more prone to muscle injury.
Bad posture won't help either. I did some manual handling training at work, and a couple points are

  1. Don't try to lift anything that you think is too heavy - get help.
  2. Always bend at the knees and not at the waist. If the pain is getting unbearable I really would seek further advice from your Midwife or GP they maybe able to suggest some suitable pain relief or gentle exercises to help.
