Heatwave Woes - How are you keeping cool?

I'm 25 weeks pregnant and the house I am staying in doesn't have a single 'cool' area to hide away in. I have a fan by my bed which I basically lay in front of all day.

I'm finding I get a lot more pain in my stomach/uterus etc when I'm suffering from the heat :(

What are your top tips for keeping cool when pregnant in this heat? I will try them all!

Nothing much to add but fan at home, aircon in car. The heat makes it all so much harder. If you're struggling don't be afraid to put yourself first and consume all the ice creams!! Apparently wet clothes to bed helps as does freezing water bottles etc.

I'm 23 week and literally in front of the fan all day too Sad as soon as I start moving round trying to do things I feel like someone's sat on my chest

Someone earlier today suggested those picnic ice blocks from the freezer wrapped in a tea towel worn on you somewhere or in a fabric backpack.

Also if you're getting pains you should definitely drink more water.

Thanks all!

@Havetothink I am drinking an unbelievable amount of water already I don't think I could fit anymore in Confused I'm a dehydration migraine sufferer so I'm pretty good at making sure I'm not dehydrated so I know it's not that giving me the pains - I see my midwife tomorrow so will mention it to her :)

I did try the ice packs in a towel this evening, darn things melted and warmed to room temperature after about 10 minutes argh!

Someone start praying to the rain gods...

Lying in a cold bath eating frozen watermelon slices! I'm onto my third bath of the day now and have probably consumed more watermelon in the last week than during my whole 30 years so far 🍉🍉

I keep the curtains drawn to keep the sun out. Depending on the time of day and the room I open or close the windows.

I sit around in my underwear unless I have to go out.

29 weeks here with 2 little people to look after. Here's what I've been doing

  • Frozen hot water bottle
  • loft hatch open all day
  • fan on at all times
  • freezer full of ice lollies
  • no bra at home and minimal clothing
  • feet in paddling pool when possible

DH says if you face a fan facing out of window it's supposed to suck out all hot air. Haven't tried that one yet.
