Intermittent bleeding 25 weeks

I’ve been lucky and had no bleeds this pregnancy so far, but woke up at 4am and found some fresh red blood on the loo paper. Went to maternity unit who listened to heartbeat and scanned baby and all seemed okay, they told me to come back if anything else happened. Went back in at 1pm after fresh red blood appeared when wiping again and then it stopped. They’re keeping me in overnight for observation and it’s just started again at 7pm. It’s never a massive flow - just when I wipe. Heartbeat seemed fine again earlier and I can still feel her kicking - albeit low. Has anyone else experienced this and has any idea what it might be?!

I had some random bleeding at 25 weeks. Not a lot, but red blood for a few hours and again, only when I wiped.

I went to the maternity unit and they did an internal, a few scans and kept me under observation for 24 hours. I had a follow up appointment, but they never figured out what it was, or even told me what it could have been.

Everything was fine for me, and my son was born a little past his due date, healthy as anything.

One of my friends had a similar thing at a similar time, though with more serious bleeding. Her baby was also totally fine but they never gave her a reason.

Really hope all is ok for you.

Oh thanks! Seems exactly the same situation. Still in hospital but touch wood no bleeding since last night - baby heartbeat still fine so they’re not worried. What a palava!

Hi @Millypad. In my first pregnancy I bled on and off from the start until around 26 weeks. They never really found a cause but attributed it to cervical ectropian. Might be worth asking if this could be the cause. Happily it stopped and my pregnancy continued to term and I now have a healthy 21 month old.

Exactly the same as sharpshooter, it took a few episodes of bleeding to get to the bottom of it. It stopped around 26 weeks.

Amazing, thanks all. Finally been discharged but have no answers and worried it’ll happen again - baby all fine but equally don’t want to have to be admitted for 24 hours every time it happens if it’s a regular but undangerous (is that a word?) thing. We shall see! Xx
