Just that really... what little tips and tricks are you using to keep cool in the heat. I’m 28 weeks and the heat is making me really sick. I have a fan on in the bedroom at night. I’m drinking loads of water. What else can I do? Thanks in advance.

I moved downstairs last night as the heat upstairs made me feel sick. I've tried a few things but nothing has helped for long. I'm melting Sad

Cool bath was pleasant, but only really works while you're in it.

God I remember the dummetst while pregnant. I used to put thin tops on straight out of the washing machine.

I'm doing a lot of outside work atm and have taken to filling a fabric backpack full of those blue picnic ice blocks and just wearing them. It's making the days more bearable.

Currently have an ice pack wrapped in a little tea towel down the top of the back of my shorts so that I can sit down.
Once you get used to the shape of it in your back it's heaven. Wonder if you could do it down your bra strap under a baggy dress/top. It's been cool for an hour and a half so far!

Havetothink · 24/07/2018 11:00

That's the best idea I've heard in a while, going to try it

Anydaynow2 · 24/07/2018 11:02

Put a flannel in the freezer for 15 mins then on your shoulders. You're welcome :-)

Havetothink · 24/07/2018 11:23

Yes to the freezer blocks, have it wrapped in a tea towel firmly wedged down my bra and no longer feel like I'm suffocating, not sure I can go out in public like this though Confused may have to search for a backpack.

booandbumpp · 24/07/2018 11:29

@Havetothink 😂😂 depends on how big the ice pack is I guess. Mine is only small and slim for a cool bag and it's not noticeable under my top. Saying that I will look like hunchback of Norte dame if it means I can cope in the heat!

Ooooh! Ice pack wrapped in a tea towel is a good one. I’ve been freezing bottles of water and drinking them as they defrost by the baby goes bonkers!

I tried freezing stuff but it just annoyed me.

Now I've changed to killing people. Especially people that say shite to me like 'I can't believe how big you are'. That has helped quite a lot.

Oh and magnums.

As crazy as this will probably sound but I've decided I'm going to buy the cooling pads you can buy for dogs, my mil has a giant dog who was comfortably asleep on hers the other day and I was slightly jealous haha, im 28 weeks today baby number four not coping at all even with fan so this will be my next solution to try tomorrow once I've been to the shop 😁 x

Anm4 · 24/07/2018 19:06

I love the comment before mine!! @Mississippilessly, I've encountered this too you're so big, he is so low, bet you're boiling.... no s*!!!!

Havetothink · 24/07/2018 19:08

Lol, I looked at the dog mats too but couldn't see one big enough.

LaurenJade96 · 28/07/2018 19:52

I haven’t been leaving the house unless absolutely necessary, and Iv been spending all my days sat on the sofa in front of a fan haha! I’m 39 weeks now, and absolutely DREADING giving birth in this 😩
It’s horrible when you feel sick too.
you can put ice cubes behind the fan and it blows cold air in you. Look online how to do it! It’s been saving me lol.
See if your midwife will prescribe anti sickness tablets, drink a lot of water and take it eas. I feel for you, I really do! Smile
