I'm currently sat at work, 16 weeks pregnant. I'm really shattered, sore head and feeling a bit run down (got a tonne of coldsores, sorry TMI but I always get them when i'm rundown or away to get ill).

Would you say to your boss you are going home as feeling unwell and catch up on some rest? (also got a 1 year old but will be at childcare so house will be empty). I am so tired I can hardly keep my eyes open but its not like I have a bug or something is it?

Yes, go home and get some rest

SuperVeggie · 24/07/2018 08:41

Yes, I would go home. The coldsores in themselves are obvious evidence that you are poorly in and need of some rest, so your boss shouldn't think you're trying it on (I get them too, currently sat here 13 weeks sporting a nice shiner on my lip after overdoing it while on holiday last week!). Hope you feel better soon.

Don't torture yourself at work if you're not feeling well.

Stephisaur · 24/07/2018 08:47

My SIL did this a few times. If you really feel bad, go home and rest. I'm sure your work will be understanding. It's not like you're much good to them like this!

Tell them you've got a headache and paracetamol isn't touching it, get some rest.

Angeliki159 · 24/07/2018 11:02

If they know you are pregnant they can't say anything. Just tell them you don't feel good and need to go.

Go home and rest, definitely. In my (current!) experience, overdoing it when pregnant is much more likely to end in illness because you're already working with a weakened immune system. I'm currently on day 6 of a crappy cold because I worked like a demon for a week in the heat when I felt rubbish. It isn't worth it! Your boss will understand.

Thank you for the replies. I went home and now tucked up in bed resting. I think I just needed some reassurance

Is it pregnancy-related? Just asking because they will record it differently if it is. Get well soon! Flowers
