WWYD? Who Should I Contact?

Hi,

I’m 35 weeks tomorrow and in the past week, I’ve noticed a few significant changes which I posted about on another thread but it seems to have got worse. I’m not sure who to phone or contact so am looking for some advice.

This is what’s been happening:

  • I’m swollen in the face, hands and feet, even now that the heat has died down a bit.
  • I’ve been feeling very pukey/sick
  • I’ve had a couple of light nose bleeds
  • Needing to pee all the time and it’s quite sore and often there’s not a lot there (I went to the docs about this to get tested for a urine infection and he said nothing was showing up at all).
  • Lower abdominal period like cramping.
  • Gaining weight but diet and exercise hasn’t changed (this is more than the weight of the baby etc. as I’ve physically feeling/seeing it).
  • Seeing weird things out the corner of my eyes frequently (went to optician but apparently all looks fine).

I’ve had quite a smooth sailing pregnancy so far so I’m feeling pretty run down and crappy with all of the above hitting at once. What should I do? Is there someone I should contact? Would this be a maternity assessment thing? I’m based in Scotland. My doctor seemed to think when I saw him last week that this was all just basic pregnancy complaints but I just don’t feel right.

Thanks in advance.

Ring maternity assessment, speak to a midwife.

Triage/Antenatal day unit. Ring this morning, don’t wait for a routine midwife appointment.

Call maternity assessment/labour ward/FHU depending on how your services are organised. You need to speak to/see someone today for a check

Thanks guys. I called maternity assessment and am awaiting a call back.

Sorry to keep posting but does anyone know how long it usually takes for them to call back? It's been just over an hour now...

I'd ring again. Maybe write it all down before you ring, so that you can run through symptoms on the phone with them

Some of those symptoms are classic pre eclampsia. I hope they ring you back asap to be checked.
