How do you give up breastfeeding without the horrendous pain

Do my little one is only 1 week old and I am having to express all my milk as she won't latch onto my nipple for long enough as my nipples have gone some what flat from the excessive boob growth. My baby eats every 3 hours and I've had to put her up to 4oz as 3oz wasent satisfieing her at all. And now a day later after she completely empties the bottle she wants more ! So I thinking of swapping over to formula as even though my boobs are prouducing so much milk it's very physically demanding having to pump so much and if I don't pump regularly throughout the day my boobs go so hard and lumpy and the pain is unreal ! how do I give up the breast as this seems impossible if i have to deal with the full sharp pain daily !

Have you tried nipple shields? They made all the difference for me. I couldn’t have bf without them! It will give her something to latch onto.

If you stop pumping after a few days it'll settle down but could lead to blocked ducts and mastitis.

So, I'd replace one pumping session every few days with formula. Really try not to pump between, but make sure you massage your boobs really well before the next pump (use knuckles) to reduce the risk of blocked ducts. You should be stopped completely in a week or 2.

Youight find though in a week or two baby's mouth is big enough to latch. Plus try pumping before trying to get her to latch to soften your boobs and make the nipples a bit more accessible.

Use nipple shields

Are you doing paced bottle feeding? Definitely contact a lactation consultant.

Another one voting for nipple shields.
I went from an E Cup to a J Cup and DS mouth was initially too small. I used shields until one day he suddenly decided he didn't need them anymore.
