Anomaly scan at 25 weeks

ive just found out im pregnant for this first time at 25 weeks and its been a blur. i have been fairly ill although everything is ok now and any signs i had put down to being ill and not taking care of myself.

my partner and I are very happy but i am very worried. i havent had a 12 week or anomaly scan yet and am being booked in for those.

i had a scan which showed baby moving, heartbeat, placenta and water good.

im shocked and have not much time to prepare. dont know what to expect. want everything to be ok. tried to get a private scan booked but very little availability in my area.

My main question is at 25 weeks am I too late for an anomaly scan? I'm very worried.

any advice is welcome. please

What a shock! The 12 week scan is just to date the pregnancy, do the scan you've had will do that.

The next scan will look in depth at parts of the baby to make sure anything that can be seen on an ultrasound is healthy, or if not, why not etc. 20 weeks is a good time because baby isn't too big or too small and there's also timing related benefits of there is anything wrong (should a parent choose to terminate etc) however at 25 weeks things should be easily seen so don't worry there.

Thank you so much for your response

I'd love to hear about or from anyone who has been in this position

Very anxious to the point of being sick and just want baby to be ok

I had my first scan at 24 weeks , this was just to confirm the pregnancy , how many babies etc. Was then referred back for antenatal care and remember being booked for another scan which was more in depth , which must have been more like an anomaly scan , had lots of blood tests, all ok and my daughter was born at 39 weeks.

Hope all goes well with your pregnancy xx

Had my first scan at 28 weeks ...only saw a head !!!!
All went well and had baby at 39+6.
He's 10 now and heading to high school in September.
He does have high functioning autisim and when diagnosed was asked if I drank during pregnancy... obviously I did as I didn't know I was pregnant.
I do also have a severely disabled boy too xxx

@emelsie

Were they able to tell you from your scan that all was well?

@IceBearRocks

How far along were when you found out with your second son?

Also can I ask how much you drank with both?

Yes they went through the whole scan similarly to my 20 week scan I just had with current pregnancy, didn't give me any reason to be concerned or tell me that there was anything the were unable to check and proceeded from there with the pregnancy as normal.

Daughter is 9 now and healthy and happy!

I had my '20 week' scan but I am a lot further on than that and so there are 'limits' to what they can see but they said they don't think there's anything to worry about. I would like more reassurance but I think that's as much as I'm going to get. Very anxious and wish I could be happy as I want the baby so much. Just so worried

With my first I probably drank at weekends.... Although I had a seizure when I was pregnant too so wasn't drinking that much. With my second I drank nothing...knew I was pregnant instantly and did everything by the book. He's severely disabled !!!

It's luck of the draw!!! Although best to keep yourself as healthy as possible!!!!

I went for my 20 wk scan but baby had it's legs crossed...so have to go back at 23 weeks to find out what I'm having...so I'm thinking at 25 weeks u should still be able to find out xx
Congratulations by the way xx
