Foetal Heart Rate

Someone told me that the foetal heart rate can give an indication of the gender of the baby. I was told that boys' are slightly slower and stronger.

I asked my midwife today and she told me my baby's heart rate was 148 and that she'd expect it to be 150-160 if it was a boy!

Which seems to contradict the first paragraph! Obviously this is all speculative, but that's half the fun, isn't it?

Any ideas or anything to add? I can't find anything on the internet.

I thought it was 150+ was a girl and below was a boy. DS always averaged about 138 so I had an idea before he made his appearance but I don't think you should start buying boys clothes just yet.

PS we know we're having a boy and it got it wrong but interesting all the same! Hope this helps
