What to wear to summer weddings

I'm currently 11 weeks with DC1, I have 2 weddings this summer at 15 1/2 and 16 1/2 weeks, I've gained a fair amount of weight so can't really wear any dresses I already own but don't really have a bump yet. Anyone else in the same situation, any good ideas. Not sure if its still too early for a maternity dress but the other option would be a maxi dress in a bigger size for the boobs/ bum. If it's smart but not too smart I could wear it for work in the future. Any help is much appreciated!!!

The baby grows beyond the confines of the pelvic bones somewhere between 12-14 weeks, so you are very likely to have some sort of bump by 15-17 weeks when the weddings occur.

I'd get a maternity dress, or tunic/skirt (the latter combo might be more practical if you want to get a lot of wear from the items, as the skirt could go with a more office-y top for work, and the tunic could pair with jeans (or in this heat, shorts) at other times.

I'd get a maternity dress. For me so far, wearing a bigger sized dress just makes me look like I'm trying to hide extra weight. Didn't have much of a bump at 15-16 weeks, until I tried on maternity trousers! Maternity is cut to flatter bump and boobs, looks much better.

I went to a wedding at 15 weeks, it's my second so I had a definite bump but I'd say go for maternity dress all the way! You'll be more comfortable, and the earlier you buy the more you'll get to wear. They are more flattering than buying up sized clothes - your waist disappears (or mine did!). I'd buy a maxi dress in a dark colour then you can wear to work and into winter with a cardigan. Seraphine do lovely dresses, expensive but worth it. Have fun!

Thanks! I just found Seraphine, OMG they do some lovely stuff! May have bought a couple of bits as they seem to have a pretty good returns policy too.

Just in case anyone else is in the same boat:

And I think you get 15% off and I get something too.

Glad you found things! I practically live in seraphine wrap dresses - they lasted really well from last pregnancy too, and are good for nursing. X

I had a wedding last week at 28 weeks and just wore a maxi dress in an empire line design. Showed off my bump but can wear it pregnant or not x
