I'm going to the GP tomorrow, but I'm really worried I'm 21 weeks pregnant and the last few weeks I've started getting lots of mucus in my poo, also had some bright ted bleeding. This is baby number 4 and i haven't had this before but wondered if anyone else has this and if it could be pregnancy related?

Have you suffer from ibs or anything in the past?

I had a bout of ulcerative colitis about ten years ago, it went away (change of diet even though drs in this country often don’t believe in diet to resolve UC, I saw a dr in the States and they do believe in it, gave me advice and it worked) but came back mid pregnancy. Apparently it has s 50:50 chance of coming back in pregnancy.

The symptoms are just as you have described.

In the U.K. I was prescribed Asacol. My US doctor said not to take it because there has been a trial to show that it does pass through the placenta.

I didn’t take it, was v strict with what I was eating (“Specific Carbohydrate Diet”, nothing drastic, just no processed foods, lots of fresh veg, fruit, fish meat) and it went away.
