I'm off work yet again because of slapped cheek. Driving me mad. I'm going to be stuck at home for another week with puppy and dd.
Sorry about this but just really fed up with it all and i'm starting to think I am destined to have a rubbish pregnancy!

Ahhh bambino, that's rubbish news, and worrying too. Can you get out anywhere nice with dd and dog? fresh air and ice cream always make me feel better

bambino1 · 29/05/2007 17:42

Yeah I know but weather look set to rain after today for rest of week! Oh i'm so down!

Ahh bambino, don't hit me for saying this but it may be your..........hormones..........that are getting in the way of your happiness. I was so wretched the other week, I didn't even want to be pregnant, be with dp, leave my job, the works! I quite shocked myself cos usually positive about things. It may pass quite quickly, try and use the time to rest and have a couple of duvet days, if that's possible with dd and pups?! What sort of puppy have you got btw?

RGPargy · 29/05/2007 20:05

slapped cheek??

I hope you decked 'em!!!

bambino1 · 30/05/2007 08:30

Are you joking RGPargy?

RGPargy · 30/05/2007 11:47

I was joking yes, but i dont have a clue what a slapped cheek is either, although i'm assuming it's a medical condition and not a stroppy friend.....

DumbledoresGirl · 30/05/2007 11:48

Slapped cheek is also called Parvo virus or Fifth Disease if that helps RGPargy.

RGPargy · 30/05/2007 11:50

Thanx DG - i just googled it too.

DumbledoresGirl · 30/05/2007 11:51

Cheeky! I didn't need to google. My son had it 5 years ago!

hana · 30/05/2007 11:58

my friend lost her baby at 20 weeks because she had caught this from her students ( she is primary school teacher)
so even tho you are off, it's well worth the risk

RGPargy · 30/05/2007 12:26

Sorry DG, i wasn't implying you had googled it! I meant that i had googled it as well as getting the info from you. If that makes sense. digs deeper hole

RGPargy · 30/05/2007 12:26

Sorry to hear about your friend Hana

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 30/05/2007 12:27

Why would something so potentialy serious have such a ridiculous name!?

hana · 30/05/2007 12:37

I knokw, was her fisrt pregnancy, she recently had a m/c as well, poor thing
My sil (also a teacher) had njearly 2 months off from teaching as it was rampant in her school.....her principal wasn't taking it seriously at all
you can have a blood test to see if you are immune

ELF1981 · 30/05/2007 12:43

its called slapped cheek as that is what it looks like
most of the adult population have had it, they just weren't diagnosed with it when children.
I was exposed when 14 weeks pregnant and had to have a lot of blood tests to ensure I wasn't at risk.
Luckily I'd had it.

bambino1 · 30/05/2007 15:26

Unfortunatly I am not immune! Its been around in the nursery on and off for the last few months.
I wouldn't risk catching it so both me and dd are off till all clear!

how rubbish for you bambino. Really feeling for you - I imagine that the days can be frustratingly slow when you aren't working.
Can you think of all of the things that you usually don't get time to do, like put photos in an album or sort out a cupboard and do a bit of one each day, so that you feel that you have achieved something.
Might help keep dd entertained too.

bambino1andbump · 30/05/2007 16:03

Tried to sort out dd room this morning as we are going to try and decorate before bump becomes baby!
Almost impossible as she kept getting everyhting out of the boxes, trying old shoes on.
Did manage to get a very large ebay pile to do so prob do that tomo!

birdseed · 30/05/2007 16:06

tomorrow is a good day to do e bay bambino as they have a 5p listing offer for items with a starting price of up to 99p! .... although may mean that you are competing with more items than usual, and other charges still apply!

keep going, easy to say, but it won't be forever....and you may have a very well sorted out house before you go back to work.
I am exhausted and just feel like sleeping on the sofa the whole time, so maybe you could persuade dd that a video is a good idea...might help pass the time, and give you an opportunity for a kip!

birdseed · 30/05/2007 16:07

let dh/dp do painting if you have any planned.
