Before I start drinking gallons of it, can someone please tell me that it's the right kind, as apparently they're not all suitable. Thanks.

Hi

I used the Heath & Heather Raspberry Leaf Tea bags. I'm not sure if they actually did anything, as I did go 8 days overdue.

I did like the taste though!

hi drinkypops. I used them for my 1st pg too and went 9 days overdue so now I'm thinking . Even though I know it doesn't exactly trigger labour. And I hated the taste!

it doesn;t trigger labour, but it is a uterine tonic, that makes the contactions more efficent and therefore shortens labour, anecdotally it works ! it can be sweetened with honey, and is good to drink during labour too

i didnt like the tea - i used raspberry leaf tablets instead

Everyone at my antenatal classes said they tasted vile, it must just be me that likes them!

I think they are meant to soften your cervix aswell I was in labour for 56 hours, so not sure how effective it is!

When you are overdue you will try anything I guess! (even though I drank it religiously from 37 weeks!)

My first labour was 24 hours-Ididn't take any RLT.
My 2nd labour was 50 mins from start to finish and I took the RLT tablets,so I obviously recommend them.

Hi!
I religiously drank the Heath and Heather tea from 37 weeks onwards. first week just 1 a day, 2nd week 2 a day and 3 a day in the final week. My son (my first baby) came 3 days early and from first contractions to my son's birth were just 5 hours! Whether that had anything to do with the raspberry leaf tea, I don't know, but I'll certainly drink it again with the next one! Also, i do like herbal tea, so I didn't mind drinking it!d

I think it tastes lovely.

Almost 39 weeks and now on the capsules AND the tea. Also about to eat a bloody big pineapple and getting funny looks from DH as will only walk up the stairs sideways.

kreamkrackers · 29/05/2007 18:44

was 9 days early with dd1 and went 11 weeks early with dd2 so never tried it second time.

with dd1 my contractions were very strong from start to finish, had a 16 hour labour. i also took evening primrose oil from 37 weeks as it was in a magazine about it saying it helps to soften the cervix.
