Need your guidance. In my 13 and 18 weeks scans, my placenta was high. And somehow I had to have scan at 19 weeks that shows my placenta is low (18 mm from os). Is it really possible for placenta to move from high to low? If this has happened with you, how did your pregnancy go after that? Want my hopes up.

I'm surprised as I think that before about 20 weeks they can't really tell where your placenta is, as everything is too squished up? And even at 20 weeks they can't measure distance from os?

However, I do know that 9 out of 10 placentas that are low at 20 weeks 'move' enough to allow vaginal delivery. Although it's not really that the placenta moves, it's that as the uterus stretched, the position of the placenta stretches upwards like a dot on an inflating balloon. Your chances of the placenta moving are slightly less good if your placenta is anterior or you have had a previous c section.

I was unlucky and despite having a posterior placenta and not having had a c section before, my placenta didn't move. On top of that, I went into early Labour well before my planned c section. But they monitor you very carefully from about 34-36 weeks so I still had a safe emcs with a normal level of blood loss.
