Heartburn

I'm only 6 weeks pregnant with second baby (I never experienced any of this with my DD) but I've had to worst heart burn over the past 5 days. I've thrown up three times today, all yellow bile. (Sorry if tmi)

DH rang GP who has prescribed me omeprazole, which has definitely taken the edge off, but I've still got a slight pain. Is there anything I can do to get rid of this heartburn.

Ive tried Rennies, Gaviscon and Ranitidine and none of them worked.

Apart from not eating, I don't know what else to do. 😫

Hi.
I had bad heartburn in my pregnancy but ranitidine did work for me in the end so you seem to have it much worse. Managed to struggle on gaviscon for most of the pregnancy before it was making me very sick again in third trimester.
Only way I managed to control it slightly was to avoid certain foods which you may already be doing? Tea was a big no no for me. Fruit, smoothies, spicy foods along with a few others I learnt to stay away from. Is there anything else the GP can offer you at all? Really feel for you as it’s so horrible especially when your at the point of vomiting bile!

I had to stick to plain food, so boring specially when I wanted to eat my spice. I found that putting my pillows up higher helped a little bit to go to sleep and through out the day sip water. I do feel for you, it is not pleasant.

Thanks for the replies! ☺️

Today has been the worst day so far. I'm at the EPAU tomorrow for an early scan, so I'll mention it there when I see the midwife.

My first pregnancy was relatively straightforward and my biggest issue was constipation, and I thought that was bad!!

Did anyone find that peppermint tea helped?

Definitely mention it to them they may have more advice. I found some doctors were very dismissive of it and questioned why I was taking ranitidine etc but I wouldn’t have been able to keep food down without it. Never tried peppermint tea. I did try the ginger extract capsules but that was more from a sickness point of view. I did find mine was bad to begin with, settled during 2nd trimester before worsening at the end due to running out of space etc. But definitely ask the midwifes I’m sure they will have some tips for you!

Thanks @charley39 it's just been awful. I've never felt so crappy, plus I'm going on holiday next week, so in dreading being ill!

I'll definitely mention it tomorrow at the hospital. Hopefully they might be able to do something! 🤞🏼
