Hi ladies,

I heard a suggestion recently about the birth partner using massage oils during labour to help relax you etc. I love having my back rubbed and I know this would be lovely but I was under the impression essential oils or massage oils couldn't be used when pregnant? Does anyone know if there are certain oils designed for pregnant ladies or just oils that would be safe to use?

TIA :D

I don’t have a definitive answer, only from my own experience, but I used the massage oil from ‘Rituals’ during my second pregnancy. It smells gorgeous, and it was so relaxing to be massaged.

There are certain essential oils you should avoid, but I think that's because some of them bring on contractions? So they're safe for labour?

If all else, you can use baby oil - that's got to be safe!

I used clary sage oil and lavender to help induce labour so I’d say that’s probably safe to use once you’re already in labour. It helps to rub it
On the feet too!

That is a good point, maybe it will help it all be over faster 😂
