Hi Peeps

I've chosen to opt for a private early scan for peace of mind as this is my first baby.

I was told by the clinic i needed to be 8 weeks and now at currently 6 weeks I said ok, can I book in for two weeks.

When I've had my confirmation I realise that i will only be 7 weeks. They have told me its still likely they will be able to detect baby via ultrasound but MAY need to use internal vaginal scan if not, which is an extra charge.

Do you think should move forward the appointment or is it likely to see baby at 7 weeks?

Thanks

I would wait as you can see a lot more at 8 weeks plus if you see a heartbeat then the odds for a successful pregnancy are really good.

I had one at 6+3 and I could see a flickering blob and didn't need trans-vaginal, but there isn't much detail at that stage so you won't see very much. At 8 weeks it'll be starting to look a bit more like a baby so you'll see more, but it depends what your motivation is. I had mine when I did as I was going on holiday and wanted to make sure everything was in the right place before I went, but if I were to do it again without that as a motivator, I'd wait till 8 weeks.

I had one at exactly 7 weeks which was done abdominally. We saw an oval shaped flickering (heartbeat) baby.
