Does this mean Ive not done my pelvic floors properly?

Ive been doing my pelvic floor exercises every day, Im 29 weeks pregnant. Now when the baby wriggles and kicks I suddenly feel like I might pee myself, not all the time but definitely a good few times a day. Im worried that it means I haven't done a good enough job of my pelvic floors ? I can "leak" a tiny bit and to be honest sometimes it feels like theres pressure down there.. best way I can think of to describe it. Is it normal to feel like this or do I need to step it up somehow to be prepared for birth / afterwards?

Are you doing both short and long squeezes? Apparently that's very important.

Depending on baby's position it could be putting more or less pressure on your bladder. I mean that the baby could have turn so that baby's foot is right against your bladder so the kick has a big effect! I noticed big differences in my, er, wee situation when baby moved to different positions.

I found pelvic floor exercises made me leak more. Squats are better.

Of course there's a feeling of pressure down there, there's a baby squashing your bladder! Leaking can happen for some women regardless of pelvic floor strength if enough pressure is on their bladder

No, I think it's just the result of having 2+kg of weight resting directly on your bladder!

Ask your midwife, but my doctor said it was normal. I wear pantyliners because I have a lot of discharge but I'll be honest they also give me peace of mind about small leaks.

As PPs said. If baby resting is on top of your bladder or kicking/hitting it then you are going to end up needing the toilet asap or will leak. It also happens if a HCP starts feeling around your stomach to see where baby is.

I constantly needed the toilet, like I had a UTI but he was very low down and breech so was constantly pushing on my bladder! I felt like every time i was standing I was going to wet myself. He might just be low or in an awkward position which puts more pressure on.

Thanks everyone, I just didnt know what to expect and thought that if I did my pelvic floors Id need to pee more often but leaks wouldn't be an issue - sounds like if the baby is pushing down there then it happens regardless?

Yes @bigcarrot thats exactly how it feels, I keep thinking do I have a UTI! and then when I do go to pee a lot of the time I barely go

Thanks @Milknosugar1 I have been doing long squeezes trying to feel like Im pulling up into my stomach but not many short, and I do think maybe Im tensing my stomach instead by accident sometimes? @tinyterror no I think ive just been doing long so will start doing both thanks!

Thanks @Foggymist with this being my first baby I wasn't sure if that meant I was doing it wrong or if leaks were inevitable regardless

I don't think it's inevitable, I don't remember being worried about leaks with my first but it's defo a thing for me this time - it must depend on baby's position.
