When to stop pill/start folic acid

Hello, we are starting to think about trying for our second baby. I can't remember from last time how far in advance you need to start taking folic acid before trying? Also, this time round I am currently on the pill (Desogestrel) - does anyone have any experience of coming off this pill and how long I should leave my body to adjust after stopping it before ttc?
Thank you

The general advice is to start taking Folic Acid 3 months before you start TTC. You can take this alongside your pill if you want to :)

You don't have to wait once you come off your pill to start TTC, you can start straight away. It might just be harder to date you in the early days if you get pregnant before your first period. This will be fixed at your dating scan though, so not really an issue.

Hope this helps :)

I was on Desogestrel. We started TTC straightaway - it took six months to get pregnant which I think is fairly average but my cycle reestablished pretty much immediately despite no bleeding while on the pill.

I was on the pill although different type, after stopping taking mine it took about 3/4 months for my periods to become regular again and was around a further 3 months before I fell pregnant.
