Girls names that I really liked but were rejected by dh:

Sierra
Julia
Lia/Lea
Liana

We both agreed for a boy:
Leo

I had a hard time with names for boys...

nappyaddict · 31/05/2007 00:11

leonie is nice for a girl

mozhe · 31/05/2007 00:29

Just in case it's a girl,( only scan info that it's a boy...they can be wrong ! ), we like Tatiana.

Caroline1852 · 31/05/2007 00:38

Tatiana conjures up Russian prostitute..... sorry!

mozhe · 31/05/2007 00:47

Nice.

nappyaddict · 31/05/2007 01:07

my friend is katiana. how about that?

also like heidi, acacia and azara.

macmama73 · 31/05/2007 01:18

ours are Catriona and Connor.

nappyaddict · 31/05/2007 01:47

what about erica?

AussieSim · 31/05/2007 04:22

DS1 is Sebastian and DS2 is Kai

Sebastian might have been Alexander and Kai might have been Dominic or Leon although I loved Raphael and Axel and my DH fancied Felix.

Castanet · 31/05/2007 06:38

My ultra stern and super posh Grand-Auntie was called Erica..... Just can't imagine a cuddly pink little cute baby having the same name...,-( Sorry, hope I didn't ruin it for you!

VickyLou · 31/05/2007 08:32

Hi,
Madison May for a girl
and
Jack William for a boy

Tinasan · 31/05/2007 11:48

We have an Elena - dh is Italian and we wanted something that would match our surname but still 'work' in English. Our boy's name was Luca which I still love if I ever have a son...

Macmama73 - good choice of names, especially the girl's as it's my own! It gets mispronounced most of the time though unless you live in Scotland which is a trifle annoying at times, having lived in London for the last ten years!

MrsMcJnr · 31/05/2007 18:14

Love Eden and Tahlia

CristinaTheAstonishing · 31/05/2007 18:39

I like Yulia (not sure of the spelling, sounds You-lee-ah) and Lydia and I think they'd go well with our DD's name of Sylvia. DH likes Alice, Elizabeth, Penelope (?) and a few other Jane Austen type.

tasja · 31/05/2007 18:51

We named our DD La Luna (Italian for the sun)

If we have another DD, I would love to name her Il Sole. (Italian the sun)
If it is a boy - Ocean

NoNoNoNo · 31/05/2007 19:13

Hope, around here, Evelyn would be pronounced in two syllables, as Ev-linn. That's southern Ireland, mind you. I love that name. All the Evelyns I know are funny, kind, witty. ...

I love Orla also

Finn seems popular. Is there a website somewhere, does anyone know, with lists of the most popular names and all?

mum2george · 31/05/2007 19:20

NoNoNoNo

Try this website:

www.statistics.gov.uk/CCI/nugget.asp?ID=184&Pos=2&ColRank=1&Rank=192

It will give you the most popular 100 boys & girls names for the past five years and its the most accurate as its taken from the names registered.

COol, thanks Mum2George!

nappyaddict · 31/05/2007 19:39

how is catriona pronounced then?

NoNoNoNo · 31/05/2007 19:42

I'd pronounce it
Cat-REE-on-ah
but I know some people in Dublin who'd say
Cat-REE-nah

NoNoNoNo · 31/05/2007 19:43

though the t is a little softer than cat, a little less soft than cath

How would you pronounce it, nappyaddict?
