Do you not think you need to be quite cool to pull off some of these names?

Am just wondering as some of them are vile! (IMHO)

I thought this when I saw Vernon Kay on TV and he really can pull it off as can Edith bowman from Radio 1.

What if your child is really quiet and reserved and a bit geeky and you gave him a geeky name? Am not being horrible but you do need to think of this as school can be so cruel.

Cedric? Poor child. Phyllis? No!!!

glastochick · 07/01/2008 11:42

I like:

Daisy
Ursula
Iris
Mabel (out though, as we have a cat called Mabel )
Mia
Maya
Ella
Evie

Just can't think of boys names. We have a potential compromise (mainly because of DH) with Hendrix. I also like Noah.

calzone · 07/01/2008 17:35

BroodyMum....doesnt it bother you that you will be spelling out those names to everyone for the rest of your life?

Why complicate things with a difficult spelling of a name?

Twinkie1 · 07/01/2008 17:40

Kids names I know, have, & like.

Oscar
Max
Matilda (Tilly)
Posey (after seeing Ballet Shoes at Xmas)
Elliot
Harriet
Grace

Boring and conventional but I am one of those people who snigger at made up, double barrelled (first names) or weird names - Sorry!

calzone · 07/01/2008 17:44

Hi twinkie....we have ds's of the same age as we were pregnant at the same time and your ds2 has the same name as my ds1! (Am not a stalker I promise. )

I snigger at double barrelled first names too. dont most people just drop the second bit anyway?

All the names you have on your list are nice and normal but slightly different but have the proper spelling!!

Although I will NEVER have another baby, the names I would have are Annabel and Jake.

Just MHO!!!!
