nappyaddict · 02/06/2007 12:04

nappyaddict · 02/06/2007 12:05

i think clara and cleo are pretty too. know 2 sisters with these names.

allieBongo · 02/06/2007 12:49

I have an elliott joseph and a sylvia jeanne

loler · 02/06/2007 16:36

I still don't know - It's such a big decision. The names either don't sound right for one of the playground/boardroom/bedroom tests or else they would have spend their whole life spelling it (which I've had to do and is a real pain!).

Might be easier if I could change the surname!

TaylorsMummy · 02/06/2007 22:10

Taylor

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 02/06/2007 22:15

For a boy I like the name Ronseal (although I think his middle names may have to be "does exactly what it says on the tin")

For a girl, Polly (My surname is Filler)

Presh78 · 02/06/2007 22:49

My Daughter's name is Maya Emma. Lots of people pronounce it Mya but it is May then ah. so Maya.
I have only met one other child with the same name and it was weird as they were very similar looking.
I love the fact that her name is quite uncommon. If I had another girl i would call her Lacey and a boy i would call Jay.

WelshBoris · 02/06/2007 22:54

I didn't know that was DDs name Allie, did you name her after Sylvia Plath?

coffeecup · 02/06/2007 23:20

DS is named Owen Toby. We thought Owen would not get shortened, though his uncle calls him Owey. If he had been a girl we would have chosen Megan Jade, Which according to a name book, they both meant Daughter.

Peachy · 02/06/2007 23:23

Our three are Hrold (Harry), Samuel Stirling

Their middle names are Jarvis griffith, Godfrey and Max

Girl would have been bethany (before the corrie baby), Aisha and katie

Otter · 02/06/2007 23:26

i am miranda - mimi by friends

TwoIfBySea · 02/06/2007 23:47

I have dts Niall Robert and Adam William but that is using grandfather names as second names.

I also like the name Matthew although it is far too popular and I liked Emil but dh said no, his Anton was vetoed by me! My friend's Spanish cousin is called Raphael which is just so romantic but I don't know how that would fare here, too much influence from turtles of the ninja type. Current likes are: Joachim, Calvin, Christian, Matthias (one way or another dh), Enzo.

For girls, I don't know now. We did like Mercedes but worried people would think we were those kind of people who named their children after vehicles. I still love: Mathilda, Pernille, Camilla, Ines. I add ones all the time.

I also like Alexandra/Alexander but due to not so nice family members having those names we named our dog Alex, so I used it in a way!

Otter · 02/06/2007 23:51

wow twoifbythesea what fabulous taste you have

i have never in all my 'name obsessed' years -heard of such silmilar tatse to my own!

TwoIfBySea · 03/06/2007 00:11

I love this site for research Otter. We are hoping to extend our brood next year so I will love writing out my lists again.

There is also a girl called Florence in dts2's class. There you go, another good girls name.

Otter · 03/06/2007 00:16

the florence I know is called Florence Mercedes - wow

will check out that site thankyou!

mummyto2littleprincess · 03/06/2007 00:21

Florence sorry no thats a very old and horriabl name
Mercedes yes thats a lovely name

Otter · 03/06/2007 00:27

Florence is a beautiful name - like the City - timeless

Some Mumsnet names are naff and 'horrible' but i would not say so

TwoIfBySea · 03/06/2007 00:37

Florence does make me think of the Magic Roundabout but as a character she could be a good role model (likes animals, is kind and smart etc.!) This Florence at school though has the most gorgeous blonde, fluffy hair so not like MR Florence at all.

So I think names are influenced on who you know with that name.

TwoIfBySea · 03/06/2007 00:37

I wouldn't use Florence though, just like it. Same as I wouldn't use Flora although I like that too.

Otter · 03/06/2007 00:39

two floras at our school

porkpie · 03/06/2007 08:01

I have a Caelan James, but I also considered Finlay, Noah, Isiah, Florian, Sam, Emile, Robin and Rowan. Didn't get very far with girls names, since we knew it was a boy early on, but I like Carys, Anna, Stella, Eden and Evie.
