Mamas & Papas

Morning,

I'm a FTM and due in Oct. we are thinking about getting the nursery sorted during the summer holidays and had pretty much settled on some furniture from M & P.

I have since read some online reviews which are truly awful through Trustpilot where it seems the norm is terrible customer service, misplaced or damaged parts and long waits for suddenly out of stock items which were in stock until payment was received.

Is this actually the case? I'm just aware that people are more likely to leave a negative review when they are unhappy with service than a good review but I'm still apprehensive as I would rather pay more with another more reliable company if this is the case!

Has anyone got any experience with M & P??

Thanks

We bought their oak 'ocean' range second hand on eBay - if you don't mind second hand we got the whole set (cot bed, dresser changer, wardrobe and you box) for less than £400 (originally cost £2500) and its the best most sturdiest furniture range we have found to date. Wasn't planning on second hand but other places we went to all the furniture felt weak like it would collapse. Other than that we bought a mattress and other nursery bits from mamas and papas directly and haven't had any trouble. Some things they do are over priced but I think their furniture is definitely worth the price.

It's so expensive for the quality. Much better imo to go for something longer lasting or second hand if you are set on having that exact set.

There customer service isn't great.

they sell mamas and papas furniture sets in argos, i think they are cheaper too. we bought from there and had no problem with missing parts, etc. it feels really sturdy and good quality and is still going strong 4 years later.

I bought my travel system for DD1 from mamas and papas. Hood broke on the car seat so I called and got it replaced. Good customer service, free replacement despite being out of warranty and arrived quickly. No issues at all!

We ordered ours from Mamas and Papas. Delivery took 3 weeks and came when they said it would. Haven't started putting it together yet so can't comment on the missing parts but we had no issues with ordering and delivery (our car seat also came from there).

Great! It sounds as though it's just the odd issue here and there then!

Thanks!

I have ordered nursery furniture and a travel system from mama's and papas, both very good quality. My only issue was we ordered it at a baby fair thing and so the ordering and delivery was done through Baby Planet and not mama's and papas - the entire process was shocking so would definitely recommend to make sure your order is through actual mama's and papas and not a third party

I also ordered m&p furniture through Argos, cot bed, wardrobe and drawers with changer top for £499. Very sturdy and I’m delighted with it.

cookiesaurus · 10/07/2018 19:41

Oh no @preggersteach! We have ordered a Chicco next 2 me crib through baby planet, again at a fair.

It's not very transparent at the fair who you are ordering from! I didn't realise until I arranged the delivery date that I wasn't dealing directly with the manufacturer!

Will definitely check in future!

We had our nursery furniture and pram from M+P and no issues, it came when it was supposed to. There were a couple of fittings short for the cot but I sent them a tweet and they sent me some more out which arrived in a couple of days.
When we got ours (18 months ago) we ordered through a personal shopper and got 10% off. Not sure if they still do it but it’s worth looking into if you don’t live too far from a store.

Nursery furniture won’t be used for very long. I would just get a cot and proper furniture.
