hi
i'm 4 months pregnant and suffering realy bad nausea. the only thing that stops it for the day is by making myself sick. i know this sounds really irresponsible but it's usually 1st thing in the morning and i'm not actually bringing anything up, just a lot of retching but it really makes me feel better.
has anyone else found this or do you htink it's dangerous for the baby

I'm not a medical person but I can't see that it would harm the baby.

Probably not so good for you and your upper digestive tract and teeth if any stomach acids are entering your oesophagus and mouth regularly, but tooth brushing and drinking water would help to dilute the acids I guess.

Hope the nausea passes for you soon

Probably not best to make yourself sick. How about a plain cracker first thing? Retching on an empty stomach is quite painful. Might be better to bring something up quickly rather than retching a lot?

Ginger is good for the queasiness - try biscuits (I always favour the Sainsbury's Taste the Difference Ginger cookies - purely medicinal of course!). Ginger tea is another less appetising option.

It will hopefully pass, and soon. Hope you are OK - good luck with the rest of the pregnancy

Making yourself sick can put strain on your heart, which can't be good for you. If you are still feeling this sick 4 months in, I would ask to speak to your GP or MW.

FirstAtForty said brsuing would help dilute the acids.....please do not brush straight after you have been sick. You will just rub the acid onto the teeth & risk weakening the enamel. By all means rinse, or chew a sugar free gum, but please do not brush.

I know what you mean liisa I would feel so sick for hours but then when I was sick I would feel so much better, so ended up drinking loads of water going to the loo and usually I would only have to retch once and I would be sick.

I'm not sure about the medical side of it at all, but just wanted to say I know what you mean really hope you feel better soon preg sickness is the worse.
