9 weeks and bleeding - is there any hope?

Urgh just as the title says. I’m exactly 9 weeks and yesterday was spotting pink, today I’m bleeding red blood with a few clots. No cramping or anything else. I do know that I have a fibroid which was discovered during my last pregnancy so I am clutching at straws hoping it’s something to do with that.

I’m going to the local walk-in EPU tomorrow for a scan, but in the meantime has anyone else experienced bleeding in the first trimester and gone on to have a successful pregnancy?

I had bleeding and severe cramps that felt like contractions during week 9 and had a scan at week 10 and luckily everything was okay, I'm 27 weeks now. Fingers and toes crossed for you and hope everything goes well xx

Hi OP, I bled early on in both my pregnancies. The first was just spots of red blood, the second was brownish blood for about 3 weeks. It was terrifying but amazingly both were fine and several years on are now charging around the garden like baby elephants. Really hope all is well for you too Thanks

I bled in v early pregnancy (brownish then some red, maybe 5 weeks), and again (red blood) at 16 weeks. Baby was fine.

I’ve got everything crossed for you Flowers

I had this at 6 weeks. Now dealing with a boisterous 2yr old DD! Hand holds for tomorrow

lemonnmeringuepie That's great everything was fine - pregnancy is so nerve wracking! Thank you for the finger and toe crossing :) x
halesie Thank you! Hehe baby elephants, I love that description! x
Verbena87 Did you ever find out what caused the bleeding? Glad it all turned out ok :) Thank you for the good wishes x

The first episode no, then second time they suspected an ectropion (sp?!) on my cervix. Really hope all turns out well for you too.

I’m 12 weeks but I thought i was 8 I til yesterday.

THis means I had quite a strong bleed at 9 weeks before I knew I was pregnant.

I had a private scan yesterday which is how I know I’m actually 12.

Anyway yes I had a bleed and I currently have a bouncing 12 week baby inside me.

Bearberry · 08/07/2018 19:12

I had heavy bleeding (gushing) around 9 weeks during my second pregnancy. I too expected the worst but early scan showed all well (after an incredibly tense weekend waiting) and she’s now 2, lying asleep next to me.

They couldn’t give me an explanation but I had no further bleeding in the rest of the pregnancy. Try and stay positive Flowers

I had a massive bleed at 10 weeks (it was so bad that I needed an ambulance!) and I thought all hope was gone but I'm now 35 weeks pregnant! Good luck for your scan!

TestResultsHelp · 09/07/2018 15:42

Thanks for all your kinds words everyone! Sadly the scan showed ‘a pregnancy of undetermined location’ The sonographer couldn’t see any thing looking like an ectopic but I have to have another blood test on Weds to make sure the pregnancy hormones are falling. So it looks like the sac already came out with the bleeding yesterday.

I’m feeling surprisingly philosophical about it, and looking to the future to try again ASAP.

I really appreciate your good wishes and sharing your experience :)

I have been thinking about you all day OP and just want to send you lots of love xxxxxxx

Throwaway4misc · 09/07/2018 21:07

Sorry OP
Well done on keeping a philosophical outlook. I had an MMC in March at 12 weeks after seeing a heartbeat and all fine at 9 weeks. I thought I would never get over it and although it's not like iv forgotten but one period later I'm now 12 weeks and trying so hard to keep positive.
Keep strong Flowers

Verbena87 · 09/07/2018 21:08

So sorry to hear that. BrewFlowers

Glad you’re feeling able to look forward. Be kind to yourself xxxxx
