12 week scan and felt tender afterwards

I had my 12 week scan on Friday and all was well, but since then I've had quite a lot of twinges and my tummy has felt tender.

During the scan baby was laid on its side do midwife wanted it to turn over, she kept jabbing me in the tummy quite aggressively and much harder than I would have done myself!

Is this normal?

I don't have any advice because infant really know what's normal..
But I have also found each scan 'rough' and they pressed quite hard! I didnt like it but assumed it was normal and I'm at 28 weeks at the mo. Hope that's a bit of reassurance but if you get bad pain and are worried you can always be checked out.

The midwife will know how much pressure they can apply but if you're worried contact them if just to put your mind at rest. It's no good worrying.

Happened to me with both pregnancies. They do try to jab the baby into position if they need to and it leaves you quite tender for a few days.

They have to press pretty hard sometimes to get the correct images. I cannot imagine any person doing an ultrasound would do anything that would harm the baby. They are tiny and very well buried in there at 12 weeks. The tenderness will most likely be your tummy not the uterus.

She did say it won't hurt the baby and I'm sure it didn't, it's just I've had so many more twinges & soreness since.
I'ma worrier by nature anyway :(

I felt sore after my 12 and 20 week scans, with both pregnancies. All was fine though. Every time they ended up pushing hard (I have awkward babies Grin)

Cb90 · 08/07/2018 16:44

I felt the same after 12 week and 20 week scan! I felt bruised for a few days!

SinkGirl · 08/07/2018 16:48

I found out I was having twins at my 12 week scan and one wasn’t complying... I felt so bruised afterwards for about a week.

Athers666 · 08/07/2018 17:17

I had exactly the same, I was sore and tender after the 12 week scan for a good few days. They had to press pretty hard and it didn't hurt at the time but afterwards I felt kind of bruised and sore, like you I was really worried.

Theweasleytwins · 08/07/2018 18:11

The scanner always says 'this isn't hurting you' when I grimace at her stabbing me with the scanner😑I have fair skin and a low pain/uncomfortable threshold (apparently connected)

Always a little sore after

LutherRalph1 · 08/07/2018 18:26

I had the same and actually bled immediately after! Baby was fine though

Same here as she couldn’t get the NF measurements due to position so she was really digging in. It killed for a while afterwards, I felt bruised but he is absolutely fine.
