Hair loss

I'm 27 weeks pregnant and my hair is dropping out from the root. I've experienced hair loss before after my 2nd pregnancy but never whilst still pregnant. Anyone else had this? If so how long did it last? And did it also fall out after your pregnancy? I'm worried! 😩

Not before, but after baby and quite a lot of it too. I did hear it could be low iron but not sure if that's true, I was anemic after having baby.

I'm 32 weeks and I've lost much hair this pregnancy! I do have very thick hair so it's not too noticeable but it is thinner. I've been losing it as I normally would but just more. By that I mean it hasn't been falling out in clumps etc. If I run my fingers through it I might end up with 10 ish hairs etc time.

All my bloods have been normal...I guess it's just one of those things?

I had this too while pregnant and was frightened I’d lose even more after delivery. Very pleased to say it stopped completely and has not been a problem since delivering my daughter, my hair is growing thicker again.

Thanks ladies. 👍🏻Hopefully I'll not continue to lose hair after baby arrives. Pregnancy can be very challenging! 😩

@Zoey36 did you have your ferritin level (storage iron level) looked at and vitamin D? Deficiencies in both of those can lead to hair loss, and those tests aren't done as routine.

Otherwise hair loss, not losing hair or hair staying the same are all normal during pregnancy. I'm in the latter camp and was initially puzzled why I my hair wasn't getting thicker until I found out all variations are normal.

Thanks for the info BB45 I'll mention that to my midwife at my appointment tomorrow. I feel blah about my increasing weight at moment don't want to be bald too! 😓

That's rubbish for you. In my first preg I lost most of the eyelashes in one eye. Midwife said she'd never heard of it before and tried to suggest it was using eyelash curlers! Pregnancy is not glamorous is it Hmm
