Sleeping on back

Hi all

Hope your all coping as well as you can in this heat. I for one am ready for it to go away now!

So as we all know lying on your left sidebar is best for baby. My left side is killing me now and I can’t do it.

So I’ve propped myself upright with cushions so I can sleep on my back. Is this ok? I’m not sat bolt upright but not led flat. I just can’t lay on my side any longer!

I've been wondering about this too, I keep waking up on my back in a morning 🙄

If you wake up on your back apparently it's fine as you just moved around in the night. You just can't go to sleep like that.

If you prop yourself up on your back so you aren't lying flat it's fine as well. All medical appointments where have been examined or scanned have been in that position, and if it was a problem they wouldn't do it.

It's also fine to lie on your right. But yes propped up is fine. I know what you mean, my hips are so sore when I get up in the morning!

My consultant said no sleeping on my back at all. At my scan last week (growth) she said she could visibly see a reduction in blood flow through the placenta when on my back which improved significantly when she popped a cushion under my side, so for me it's really important. It's so uncomfortable though, I just use plenty of pillows to help.

Just wondering what the best advise is for sleeping positions. I'm 17+4 and just starting to feel movements. I'm so hot and bothered with this heat at the minute and it's making me extremely restless. I turn on my left side and I'm uncomfortable, turn on my right and this is the same, lie on my back and that's just as uncomfortable and I can no longer lie on my front anymore 😓. Is there any side in particular they say you are supposed to lay on in pregnancy? Thanks x
