Reduced movements..hospital not answering

I'm 31 weeks pregnant.

Yesterday was a quiet day of movements which is normally followed by a really active day. So far I've felt 1/2 movements.

I am trying to call maternity assessment unit at my hospital but it has just been ringing for 30 mins! Had a few messages to say my call is in a queue so I am scared to end the call.

I just want to speak to someone and get some reassurance 😔😔😔 is there anything else I can do other than just wait it out until someone answers?!

Do you have a list of numbers at the front of your maternity notes folder? I had several options for ringing for this reason... maybe just work your way down them?

Personally, I would just get myself to the assessment unit as soon as I could. I wouldn't be waiting for them to answer the phone. I have multiple episodes of reduced movements in both of my pregnancies and they were always happy to check me over. Better to be safe.

It's not possible to assess reduced movements on the phone. Most maternity units would expect you to come in.

mintich · 06/07/2018 13:16

I would just go too. They'll want to check you anyway

Keep calling but in the meantime, there are a few thing I was told to try.
Sugary drink or big cold glass of water. Then lie down on your side in a quiet spot where youll be able to concentrate and feel any small movements. The be y may just have turned and be picking the placenta or at your back which are harder to feel.

But keep calling you need to get checked

Thank you for your replies.

They still weren't answering so I just came to the ward - currently in the waiting room waiting to be called in x

I would have done what you have done and just gone in too. Hope all is ok.

BrutusMcDogface · 06/07/2018 14:15

Yes, I would have suggested just going in. Hope all is well!

Thanks everyone.

Been monitored and baby woke up. They want me to go back tomorrow and Sunday for further monitoring and a scan on Monday so fingers crossed.
