How far along are you? Does the doctor know you're pregnant? What tests did he do?

If the doctor knows you're pregnant, and listened to your chest, then it should be fine and you can take the antibiotics no problem.

Yes you are panicking if the GP listened to your chest and checked on the baby.

There is a list of antibiotics that doctors can prescribe in pregnant women.

There is lots of standard advice out that that doesn't change just because you are pregnant or have an infection -

  1. If you are at the stage the baby moves and the movements change then contact your maternity unit immediately. The emergency numbers are on your notes.
  2. If you feel worse, then as you are breathless get yourself to A&E immediately. It is normally quicker for you to get someone - neighbour, colleague, passing taxi driver or whoever - to take you to A&E than to wait for an ambulance. (If you have other children then they are going to have to come with you.)
  3. If your infection doesn't start to clear up after 5 days, go back to the doctor.

BTW I'm prone to bacterial infections and unfortunately pregnancy now appears not to have changed this. Sad

Hiya, i had a chest infection at 33 weeks pregnant and got antiobiotics. They should really help. Take them. My 17 week old is fine!
