Hello. I may need to have a late abortion at 24+ weeks due to a potential major disability that baby may develop (still waiting for results).
I wanted to know if anyone had any late abortions (doesn't have to be the same reason) and what their experience/pain levels/procedure etc?
Thank you x

No experience but I’m sorry for what you’re going through Flowers

I've sent you a message, as it's not something I can cope with sharing in public.

I had a miscarriage at 19 weeks. Not the same physically but maybe in a similar place emotionally.

I'd advise you too take any counselling/support you can. I didn't and royally screwed my MH up.

I'm so sorry, I hope you have lots of RL support Thanks

I had a late term miscarriage at 23 weeks. Not sure if it will be the same, as mine was essentially just very early spontaneous labour. Waters breaking/contractions/pushing. Think about things like if you would like to see the baby after. The hospital were really good and they had a bereavement area in the women's hospital that people couldn't just wander into. SANDS is a really good charity to get in touch with.

I am so sorry you're going through this. I really hope the tests results come back positive and this will fade into a bad memory.

I just wanted to say how sorry I am that you've all experienced something so awful I had my second MC, it was a missed miscarriage at 13weeks, 2 weeks ago, I am beyond heartbroken and can't imagine how you all must feel. Much love xx

There is a charity called ARC who support people in your situation. They can give advice and support and information.

I had a late term abortion when our baby was 25weeks. Our baby had spina bifida, and had lots of fluid on the brain. The NHS in our area only offer to induce labour and then you have to give birth. I knew I wouldn’t be able to handle that so I went online and spoke to Marie Stokes, I got an appointment to have a termination under sedation.
On the day I felt awful but knew that it was for the best. When we got to the surgery there was a few pro-life protesters with signs and photos of babies. This hurt me a lot because I wanted my baby, but it was too poorly. I was given meds to dilate my cervix enough, because I was so fair gone it took hours. I just sat and cried, when I went into surgery I was put under and everything went well. When I came round I cried uncontrollably. I cried for months. But 5 months later I got pregnant again and now have a 2 and half year old.
I’m so sorry you have to go through this. ❤️
