Craving certain smells

During the first tri and much of the second everything absolutely stank!

However I’m now at a stage where I am craving smells, like a food craving I want to smell it all the time! Anyone else?!

  1. comfort softener, there’s 2 - sandalwood and something and sweet pea and something. I am smelling my clothes all day long!
  1. Lush big blue bath bomb, lush rose jam shower gel and any radox. I have the bathroom smelling gorgeous and then get the flannel all nice and fragranced in the water and then make it cool and put it over my face and inhale like I’m in a spa (if only!!)
  1. Lavender zoflora, I put it down the plug holes, into the mop bucket so the floors smell of it and have it in a spray bottle so I can wipe everything down with it.

I am a woman obsessed when it comes to these. I’m 36+3

I had this in my pregnancy but only once. I was in B&Q around Christmas and was smelling the scented candles and there was one that smelled so incredible that I physically couldn't stop sniffing it.
DH said we weren't going to buy it but I refused to put it back so he ended up buying me two lol.

When I eventually lit it, the smell made me feel sick 🙈😂

Mine was sponges or the crunchy things you use in the shower. I would be in the shower ages sniffing them. Also washing that was still a bit warm after coming out the machine. I actually used to smell every bit before I hung it out on the line and I'm talking a proper big sniff, my neighbours were probably pissing themselves laughing at me. Tumble dryer was even better.

Timeisslippingaway · 05/07/2018 00:12

Scrunchy not crunchy

sugarnotsweetener · 05/07/2018 06:23

@timeisslippingaway I smell everything I’m putting on the line too 😂 id love to have the dryer on to let the smell be wafted around the house but that would be crazy given the heat!

@mrstobe90 that made me laugh out loud - that is so bloody typical of pregnancy 😂

Mine are Comfort, Vanish Gold and Dove shower gel & hand wash! Craving started around weeks 22-25 and still going now (36wk +4). I have slightly low iron which may have caused it, taking iron tablets for last 8 weeks and the cravings have died down a little.
Still love the smell of those though! And anything 'clean' smelling.

Timeisslippingaway · 05/07/2018 10:13

I don't even have a tumble dryer but we went on holiday while I was pregnant and I was shoving washing on Willy nilly just so I could take them out and smell them haha. It might pass. Although I still love the smell of a sponge 😂

theruffles · 05/07/2018 13:41

In the 2nd trimester mine were this one particular cleaner - some Actifizz ocean scented thing - and bluebells in the garden. I felt like I was smelling the flowers for the first time properly!

lmx0 · 05/07/2018 21:45

I was in boots and didn't want to leave the sun cream aisle it smelt that good!!

Oswin · 05/07/2018 21:53

Mine was petrol, it was ridiculous because i couldnt just sit with a tub of it.
The physical need for it was awful.

JurassicGirl · 05/07/2018 21:55

Red wine & petrol!!

IHaveBrilloHair · 05/07/2018 21:57

My Dd is 17 next month but when I was pg with her I craved sponges, ate them by the dozen, and also adored the smell of dry sherry.
To this day I've never tasted it but I loved the smell.

BettyBigBollocks · 05/07/2018 22:11

I craved the smell of gin & tonic, I’d get distracted at work just thinking about how much I needed to smell it and going to the pub was heaven!

Would have understood if I was a gin drinker but I can’t stand the stuff!

Verbena87 · 05/07/2018 22:15

Creosote. I’d wake up in the night drooling thinking about it Hmm

Knew where all the creosotey fences in a 3 mile radius of the house were too.

So clean washing stuff/clean body stuff/clean surfaces stuff all seems pretty nice and normal in comparison!

holycityzoo · 05/07/2018 22:29

I was obsessed with "clean" smelling things fabric conditioner, soap, flash, zoflora...
It carried in after my pregnancy and I'm still the same!

thedishonthecoffeetable · 05/07/2018 22:37

Mine was creosote too. I used to go out at night and sniff my neighbours fence

MollyBloomYes · 05/07/2018 22:54

Ooh I used to go to Halfords and just...inhale as much as I could. Not sure what it was, maybe the bike tyres or a combination but it was definitely Halfords that did it.

My kid's 4 now and I still quite enjoy a nostalgic sniff when I go in there. But when I was pregnant it was an unquenchable craving. The staff must have thought I was so odd, going in so many times and 'browsing'

Verbena87 · 05/07/2018 22:56

@thedishonthecoffeetable I feel weirdly validated not to have been the only nocturnal fence sniffer!! Wink

meow1989 · 05/07/2018 23:00

Mine was the green fairy liquid, I used to pick it up and have a sniff whenever I walked past the kitchen.
I'm another confessed clean clothes sniffer too!

ItsAHardKn0ckLife1 · 05/07/2018 23:06

The smell of nail polish used to make me salivate Grin

LunaNightSky · 06/07/2018 00:04

I'm craving the smell of plain bleach, Milton sterilising fluid and sterilising tablets. Last week I cleaned all of my cupboards down with it and I'm wanting to do the same in the bathroom Grin

November2018 · 06/07/2018 11:01

Petrol is my weakness too. I've never filled my car tank up to the top so often! It's embarrassing because it actually makes me salivate.

Tbh, I'm craving any strong 'chemically' smells - WD40, methylated spirit etc. Pregnancy certainly isn't glamorous!

Paie · 06/07/2018 20:25

I craved the scent of natural sponges with my first... used to love lying in the bath sniffing the sponge Blush
Going on the hunt for a sponge tomorrow now!
Though atm the most amazing smell is DPs new antipersperant Grin

derekthe1adyhamster · 06/07/2018 20:28

Olives. There was a stall in our shopping centre. I don't know if it was the olive or the oil.
I hate the taste of olives usually

Roomba · 06/07/2018 20:31

It was Vosene for me! I used to sneak upstairs to the bathroom and sniff the bottle regularly. Mmmm... Still like the smell, but I don't wake up at night craving it these days Grin

Roomba · 06/07/2018 20:33

Oh yes, creosote too. And the smell of Halfords, I used to nip in as I passed regularly for a good deep inhale.
