Just wondering if anyone has any experience? I had my injection yesterday and wanting to know which side effects are normal really.

Thanks

I’m sorry that I can only just respond to you now. I hope the night was ok for you. So, I had the injection when my numbers where at about 1500.
I felt fine for the first six hours. Then I started vomiting with pain in my stomach. I think I wasn’t drinking enough water so make sure you drink plenty. It’s toxic stuff so get it clear out of your system.
A few strands of hair feel out but no more than that. I felt rough for about 2 weeks. Please take time off work. Don’t lift anything. And rest.
Just look after yourself really well.
Don’t whatever you do drink alcohol before they say you can. Don’t take Vitamins with folic acid in them before they say you can. Eat well and you’ll be fine.
I’m so sorry you are going through this. It’s not nice and I’m so sorry for your loss.
As a positive story, I had all this last April and I’m now 25 weeks pregnant so there is light at the end of the tunnel. Best of luck to you. Xxx

Thanks for sharing your experience and congratulations on your pregnancy!

I felt fine the majority of yesterday and then all of a sudden I needed both the toilet and to be sick, and had horrid pains. I found myself covered in sweat and boiling hot and just had to lie on the bathroom floor. Thought I was going to die! Was horrible. Rang the hospital and they said to just keep an eye on my temperature but I have no thermometer here and my DH is working away so have been feeling a bit scared.

There is so little information about what to expect anywhere and they didn't have much of a clue at the hospital (they have been pretty bad with the whole thing over the last week). So hearing other people's experiences is all I have to go on really!

I had 2 injections back last June I mainly felt tired and sick but not constantly came in waves I would defo take the advice having time off work I didn't and I think it made me feel worse x

@NellyandKelly yes, unfortunately that sounds like my experience I remember the temperature now you mention it. Just drink plenty. Your whole abdomen is going to feel sore, so just rest. If you can’t stop being sick then the hospital can give you something for it. Do bear that in mind because I think I left it 24 hours before I went to go and get something. They prescribe me cyclizine I think. It’s really horrid, but you’ve got to remember you are nearly through the worst of it. You are going to feel pretty raw. I think bleeding for me started about two days later.

I used to take it for Arthritis, so obviously a much smaller dose.

I was OK on the day I took it but the day after was like having flu with nausea and sometimes vomiting.

Rest as much as you can and agree with no work.

Thanks for all the experiences and advice ladies! I feel much more at ease knowing what I'm experiencing is 'normal'
Just wish it was over now!

Woken up this morning with an extremely sharp shooting pain going up my rectum (TMI sorry). When I go to the toilet it feels so unbearable it makes me feel sick. Is this normal?! Did anyone else have this?

That is what is referred to o here as 'javelin arse' I used to get it with my periods. I've not been pregnant / had an ectopic so I don't know about that but I imagine it is the same sort of thing.

When you go to the loo try to relax your anus, the javelin will become a bit sharper than lessen. If you can poo do but if it is the same as JA on a period you probably can't but this afternoon will be passing liquid.

Sorry for TMI but better that this stuff is talked about.

I second what the others posters have said about feeling rough for a few weeks and lacking in energy. I had it for a cervical ectopic a couple of years ago. I also suffered a major bleed with lots of pain and was readmitted 24 hours after taking it - that may have been because it was cervical though?! Definitely drink plenty of fluids and if in any doubt ring the hospital for advice. It’s a really nasty drug and is pretty unpleasant to take. I’m so sorry you’re going though this. To give you some hope though after the ectopic I went on to have a healthy baby girl (now 18 months) and am due a second baby girl next week so it didn’t stop me having children. I think I was advised to wait at least 3 months before TTC again though. Hang in there and I hope you get your rainbow soon x

aetw · 06/07/2018 12:48

Yes, I’m afraid the shooting pain when you go to the loo is part of it too. Sorry, I forgotten that delight. Have they done a blood draw for you yet? I hope you aren’t feeling too awful today? Have you stopped vomiting? All the best to you. X

I had this last year, javelin arse after methotrexate in my case was a sign that it had not worked and my tube had ruptured. I had ignored pain when pooing for a week, thinking it was a side effect of the methotrexate. please call the hospital straight away, I'm sorry that this is so alarming and hope it's just the drugs for you, but you need medical advice. I had emergency surgery and was ok fairly soon afterwards. Flowers

NellyandKelly · 06/07/2018 13:08

Thank you again everyone! I've read such conflicting stuff about the javelin arse! Going in for day 4 blood test today so hopefully will see it coming down - will mention the pain. I've been drinking a lot of green tea as heard that's good for it?

Only seem to be nauseous when I really need the toilet now. Not sure if it's just the pain?

Glad to see so many people have conceived after. Gives me hope!

So sorry your going through this Thanks

I had just the one dose 2 years ago. They really downplayed symptoms and told me not to worry so I tried (and failed to go to work as normal) I had a constantly wet feeling in my mouth and whenever I talked felt like I was going to be sick. A couple of days later I had the worst abdominal pain, like I was being stabbed with needles, they thought I'd ruptured so had to go in but it was nothing. My hair became really weak and whenever I washed it for a good couple of months came out in clumps. Then last but not least I'm really laying the methotrexate to blame for my messed up cycles since. They used to be really regular every 28 days. After the dose they returned 2 months later but I've had cycles anything from 20 to 50+ days ever since
